Shield Club of Greater Augusta

Shield Club of Greater Augusta The Shield Club supports police officers, firefighters and first responders in times of need. In 2007, we dispersed more than $10,000 in aid. Paugh.

In October 1986, 26 local businessmen formed the Shield Club of Greater Augusta, Inc., to offer financial support to police officers, sheriff's deputies and firemen (and their families) who are injured or killed in the line of duty. In 1987, an annuity was purchased for Deputy Bruce Williford's young son for his college education after Bruce was killed in the line of duty. A year later, we purchas

ed a motorized wheelchair for an officer who lost his leg due to an accident while on a police motorcycle. More recently, the Shield Club has provided help to individuals and organizations. Five years later, the Shield Club donated $10,000 each to the Richmond County and Columbia County Sheriff's Depts. for protective vests following the tragic loss of Deputy J.D. The Shield Club also donated $1,500 in honor of Deputy Paugh's highway naming dedication. This list goes on.
