CGC REEF SHARK and her crew have been very very busy over the last few weeks!

We patrolled all throughout the northern portion of SE Alaska and we were lucky enough to stop in Kake, Petersburg, Haines, and Skagway!

We said “see you later” to MK1 K. as he departs for his new unit in Hawaii. Before he departed, we held a Cuttermen’s Ceremony to award him with his permanent Cuttermen’s Pin(5 years sea service)!

The CO promoted to Lieutenant!

We held tours for 50 local students and their families!

Lastly, we were able to get underway to conduct a Tiger Cruise for our Crewmember’s families!

USCGC REEF SHARK took a break from Operations to enjoy a quick Fish Call while on patrol last week.

On a recent patrol, the REEF SHARK crew was afforded the opportunity to go ashore to stretch their legs and visit with a few remote communities within our Southeast Alaska Area of Responsibility!

We stopped in Elfin Cove and Pelican to check in with the residents.

Any guesses on the third community? Hint: despite its name, there were no actual hobbits present.

🧂 SN Mathews has earned his salt(Sea Service Ribbon)!🧂

We don’t normally do a man overboard drill alongside the pier, but when your Cutter Surface Swimmer is due to receive his Sea Service Ribbon, you make him swim for it!

SN Mathews has earned this ribbon for 1 year of sea time served onboard CGC REEF SHARK.
