Ault-Pierce Fire Department

Ault-Pierce Fire Department We are a combination fire department. Established in 1904 and combination as of 2016. An additional fire station was built in the town of Pierce in 1973.

We are an all-volunteer fire department commonly referred to as the Ault-Pierce Fire Department. Our fire department was first organized by the men of Ault in 1904 as the Ault Fire Department, which then became the Ault Rural Volunteer Fire Department in 1945. In Fall of 1959, the Ault-Pierce Fire Protection District was established to provide protection to the adjacent towns of Ault and Pierce an

d the surrounding rural areas. The fire department was housed in the old Ault Town Hall building until 1963 when a new fire station was built. We moved into our current digs in July 2007. Today we serve a population in northern Weld County of approximately 3,800 people within an 80 square mile area

The Morrill Fire in Nebraska is estimated to have burned 330,000 acres. Fanned by wind gusts between 70-90mph yesterday. I don’t know the cause. I’m not going to speculate.

This fire is the source of the smoke across most of northern and northeast Colorado this morning.

According to followers I have on the ground, there are a handful of homes and farmsteads that have been lost. Don’t have an exact count.

This morning with calm winds, an aerial offensive attack by fire crews is being conducted in hopes of at least gaining some containment and establishing wet lines before winds increase again this afternoon.

The wind will be out of the west and northwest for most of us today gusting at times between 35-55mph.

The wind on Saturday ahead of the cold front won’t be any better. In fact, it’ll probably be stronger.

Picture of the fire last night was sent to me from the air by Brendan Heiman

🚨 Successful Horse Rescue – Teamwork in Action

At 14:24 today, APFD was dispatched to an animal entrapment involving a horse that had fallen into a large ditch. On arrival, crews found the horse uninjured but unable to climb out on its own.

Despite sub‑20° temperatures and a windchill of 16°, APFD crews—alongside Eaton Fire Protection District, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue, Weld County Animal Control, and Banner Health Ambulance—worked tirelessly for over three hours to safely retrieve the horse.

Thanks to the persistence and coordination of all agencies, the horse was successfully rescued without injury and happily reunited with its owners.

👏 A huge thank‑you to our partner agencies and our dedicated crews for their professionalism, teamwork, and resilience in challenging conditions.
