Husky Students and Staff,

We did it! 🐾

We hope you have an absolutely wonderful, restful, and sun-filled summer break. After all the incredible learning, growing, and hard work you put in this year, you’ve more than earned it.

While the hallways might be quiet, we aren't completely hitting the snooze button. Our amazing school secretaries will be checking in intermittently over the summer to answer emails and return phone calls. Need something urgent? The District Office will be open Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Go make some great memories, Huskies. We can't wait to see you back here in the fall!

Big news on the K-8 construction front- today was our topping ceremony. A topping out ceremony celebrates the highest piece of the building's structural frame being put into place. In our case, we had individuals who have been integral in the passage of the bond and the construction process onsite to sign the beam and watch it be put into place.

Guess who ran the show in Mrs. Bainer’s 3rd grade class this past Friday? None other than our Superintendent, Mr. Lavier!

Mrs. Bainer scored the ultimate prize at the staff Christmas party- a paid day off while the big boss covered her classroom. It looks like a fun day to be a third grader!

Dear Highland School District Families,

I want to personally thank our students, staff, and families for your patience and cooperation this morning as we responded to a reported social media threat involving Highland High School.

Out of an abundance of caution, we worked closely with the Ault Police Department and assisting agencies to ensure the safety of our campus. Following a thorough investigation and search, law enforcement determined there was no credible threat, and we were able to safely resume the school day.

Please know that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We are grateful for the swift response of our local law enforcement partners and for the support of our community during this situation.

We also appreciate your understanding regarding the delayed start and recognize the inconvenience this may have caused. Based on the information available, the concern was isolated to Highland High School, which is why Highland Middle School was able to operate as normal. State testing scheduled for today will be rescheduled.

We encourage everyone to continue reporting any suspicious activity or potential threats so we can respond quickly and appropriately.

Thank you again for your continued partnership in keeping our schools safe.

Sincerely,
Andy Lavier
Superintendent, Weld RE-9 School District

UPDATE:
We are providing an update regarding the bomb threat at Highland High School.

The Ault Police Department, along with K-9 units and personnel from the Weld County Sheriff's Office and Larimer County Sheriff's Office, have completed a full sweep of Highland High School. Nothing was found during this sweep, and the campus has been confidently deemed safe for occupancy.

Highland High School will operate on a modified schedule beginning at 10:30 AM today. Please note that state testing for high school students will be postponed.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our students, staff, families, and law enforcement partners during this time. The safety and well-being of our school community remains our top priority.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We are writing to inform you that Highland High School received a bomb threat. There were no threats to the other schools in the district. At this time, the threat has not been determined to be credible; however, out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement is conducting a full safety sweep of the building, which is expected to take approximately one hour. During this time, students and staff will not be permitted inside the school.
Students who arrive by bus or are dropped off will be escorted to a secure location.
There is currently no threat to Highland Elementary or Highland Middle School. We will provide an update as soon as more information is available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and school community remains our top priority.
If you have questions, please contact the District Office at 970-834-1345.
Sincerely,
Weld Re-9 School District
