What a wonderful experience of teamwork, service, connection, and giving back for a great cause. Together, we helped make an impact by preparing meals that will help feed children in need around the world.

As Rishima heads off to college, we want to recognize her for her outstanding service on the AANHPI Advisory Board. As our Student Board Member, Secretary, and a valued member of the Business-to-Business (B2B) Committee, she has played an important role in supporting our board, strengthening community connections, and contributing to many of our initiatives and events.

We are grateful for her dedication, leadership, positive attitude, and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Rishima has been a wonderful example of the next generation of community leaders, and we know she has a bright future ahead.

Today, the Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Advisory Board for the City of Aurora proudly joins our community in celebrating Philippine Independence Day and honoring the rich history, vibrant culture, and lasting contributions of the Filipino community.

This day commemorates the Philippines’ declaration of independence on June 12, 1898, and serves as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and enduring spirit of the Filipino people.

Aurora is strengthened by the diversity of its residents, and we are grateful for the many ways Filipino Americans enrich our city through their leadership, culture, entrepreneurship, public service, arts, education, and community involvement.

As we celebrate, let us continue to embrace unity, honor our shared stories, and uplift the traditions that make our community so vibrant.

The AANHPI Advisory Board had an incredible weekend celebrating culture, community, and connection at the AANHPI Celebration at Pacifica Square! 🎉🌺✨

From cultural performances and community organizations to local businesses, food vendors, artists, and families, it was inspiring to see so many people come together to celebrate the rich diversity that makes our community so vibrant.

We loved watching attendees connect with one another, experience different cultures, enjoy the performances and activities, and create lasting memories throughout the day. Events like these remind us of the power of community and the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed, represented, and celebrated. ❤️

On May 12, 2026 - The City of Aurora AANHPI Advisory Board was Honored to receive a Proclamation from the City of Aurora recognizing May as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

A heartfelt thank you to Mayor John Laesch and the City of Aurora for this meaningful recognition and for continuing to support and celebrate the diverse voices, cultures, and contributions within our AANHPI community.

This moment represents so much more than a proclamation — it reflects the stories, resilience, traditions, businesses, families, and future generations that continue to shape and strengthen our city every day.

Grateful to stand alongside our amazing AANHPI Advisory Board members and Community Leaders who continue to create spaces for connection, representation, and impact. 💛
