VA ECHCS may reach out before some of your appointments through the BHL-Screener, with a short questionnaire by text or email. Completing it ahead of time can help focus the conversation when you meet with your care team.
The BHL-Screener, formally e-screening, streamlines the collection and processing of Clinical Reminder questionnaires by automating Veteran outreach, response capture, CPRS Progress Note generation, and when applicable, completion of the Clinical Reminder. It reduces staff workload, minimizes variability in how questions are asked, and enables Veterans to complete important screenings before their appointments, thereby giving their primary care physician a more complete picture of the Veteran’s medical issues.
BHL Touch, a VA-approved web-based tool supporting measurement-based mental health care, now offers a new mode for Veterans to complete assessments anytime using their own device, in addition to traditional iPad entry in the office. This allows Veterans to receive and answer questions in advance of appointments, increasing the time they have with their primary care physician and reducing the time Veterans spend filling out paperwork when they arrive for their appointment.
This new feature allows providers to text or email a secure link to a Veteran for convenient completion from anywhere. When the requested assessments are completed, the provider is immediately notified via email, and they can then review the results, track the patient’s progress over time, and seamlessly upload them to the electronic health record.
The benefits of this technology include:
• expanded implementation of MBC
• more accurate and efficient documentation of care
increased overall patient and provider satisfaction

Eastern Colorado Health Care System recently held its second NADA Protocol training, building on its first course in 2024. The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) Protocol uses standardized auricular, or ear, acupuncture points—often in a group setting—to support Veterans experiencing pain, insomnia, anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, PTSD, substance use concerns, and other chronic health conditions.

This safe, well-tolerated approach is an important addition to our VA ECHCS Whole Health care because it helps expand access to acupuncture services and supports Veterans’ overall well-being.

Following 15 hours of pre-coursework and two days of in-person instruction, ECHCS has now trained 32 providers—including RNs, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and physicians—and has three certified instructors to continue growing this capability.

Veterans can access NADA care through the weekly walk-in clinic every Thursday, 10 a.m.–noon (excluding federal holidays), at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, Building G, second floor, room G2-235.

See the images in this post from our most recent training.

Attention Southern Colorado Veterans:

Thank you for your continued flexibility and support while repairs are being completed at the Floyd K. Lindstrom VA Clinic. Below are updates on Lindstrom VA Clinic services:

PFC FLOYD K. LINDSTROM VA CLINIC UPDATE:
• Wound/Ostomy Care- Will operate from the Union VA Clinic beginning Monday, Aug. 31.
• Infusion Clinic- Has returned to the Lindstrom VA Clinic and is operating from Suite 2400.
• Audiology- Progress is being made toward activating the Mobile Audiology Unit into service and we hope to begin conducting Veteran hearing tests in the mobile unit soon.
• Ophthalmology- Started seeing Veterans at Evans Army Community Hospital, on Fort Carson Army Base, starting Aug. 27.
o Base access information is being shared directly with scheduled Veterans and can also be found on our VA ECHCS website.

If you need help finding any of our clinics within Lindstrom, feel free to stop by the volunteer desk near the clinic entrance.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Restoration Work:
Work continues in Suite 1200, in the building’s Northwest corner, to replace cabinets and furniture and repair and paint drywall. Once that work is complete, restoration efforts will move to the labs, followed by ophthalmology, imaging, audiology and other affected spaces.

We continue to follow guidance from Safety and Infection Prevention as we move forward the mitigation of the water damage. All affected areas have been secured with hard barriers and equipped with dehumidifiers and moisture-reduction blowers. The remediation team has also established negative-air-pressure zones to help contain air within affected spaces and safely exhaust it outside the building.
All our other VA clinics remain operational at this time.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available. For additional Veteran resources, please review the information below. Thank you for your understanding.
