Let’s give a big shout-out to Zaira, a CISA summer camp participant at Hill Elementary School and her cousin Dalilah who went above and beyond to make the playground sparkle! They took it upon themselves to scour every nook and cranny, picking up trash from the playground and surrounding neighborhood. Their efforts not only beautified the area but also made it safer for everyone to continue enjoying the playground this summer. Way to go Zaira and Dalilah🙌🏼 your selflessness and environmental stewardship inspire us all. Thanks for reminding us that every small act of kindness and responsibility counts!🌿🌎💚

Another exciting week at the City Of Aurora/CISA Summer Camps, The kids had a blast with Zumba, outdoor fitness, checkers, reading buddies, and STEM activities like slime-making, ice cream making, creating sensory bottles, and building structures! Not only did they have fun, but these hands-on experiences also reinforced concepts taught during the school year, helping prevent summer learning loss.

Our Story

“The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life”.

Communities In Schools (CIS) was founded as Cities in Schools in 1977 and is headquartered in Alexandria, VA. Today, CIS is the nation’s leading community-based network helping kids stay in school and prepare for life. Communities In Schools celebrate nearly three decades of building communities of help, hope, and care for two million students every year, at almost 3,000 school sites in 28 states. For two years in a row, Worth magazine named Communities In Schools one of the 100 top nonprofits in America. CIS of Aurora is part of a network that includes over 260 cities and communities. Aurora’s Communities In Schools started in 1991 and was incorporated in 1994.
