Attention former Pride of Aurora Band Members!

Want a piece of your band history? Come to the band uniform sale and purchase one (or two!) former Pride of Aurora band uniform sets!

The sale will be held from 8:00–11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, in the Aurora JUNIOR HIGH band room.

Uniform sets will be sold for $25 each and include the jacket (with gauntlets, sash, and/or buckle as applicable), bibbers, and hat with plume (as supplies last). Individual pieces will not be sold separately.

Aurora R8 is proud to announce new hires for the 2026–2027 school year!

Daniel Ortman – JH Special Education - Math
Daniel brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served Aurora students as a 5th and 6th grade teacher, Junior High Instructional Coach, and Alternative Learning Center teacher. A long time Aurora resident, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family, taking vacations, and teaching both at church and at school. When he's not in the classroom, he can often be found working as a cattle farmer. Daniel is also a lifelong fan of the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks and has built an impressive Connect 4 legacy at school, compiling a remarkable record of 3,301 wins, 68 losses, and 12 ties since 2016. One of his long-term goals is to eventually retire from teaching—but not anytime soon!

Keri Strahan – Pate Reading Interventionist
Keri brings a wide range of experience to Pate, having previously served as a Reading Interventionist at Robinson School as well as a 1st, 5th, and 6th grade teacher. Originally from Mississippi, Keri moved to Missouri 27 years ago and now lives in Cassville. She is beginning her 26th year in education and is excited to return to working with younger students. Keri is married to her high school sweetheart, Dale, and together they have three children—Colby, Madison, and Braden—and four grandchildren who bring tremendous joy to their lives. Outside of school, she enjoys gardening and spending time with family. Keri has always been passionate about teaching and is looking forward to getting to know the students, families, and staff at Pate. A few fun facts about Keri: she once had a pet raccoon named Bessy, was her high school Homecoming Queen, and plays several musical instruments. She is excited for a great year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities.

Aurora R8 is proud to announce new hires for the 2026–2027 school year!

Perry Mease – Robinson Administrative Assistant
Perry brings a unique background in both youth development and law enforcement. After graduating high school, she worked as a Youth Development Professional with Boys & Girls Clubs of America before serving as an administrative assistant at her family's company. She later joined the Stone County Jail, attended the Sheriff’s Academy, and became a deputy. Perry is 22 years old and lives in Crane, Missouri. She enjoys spending time with her fiancé and their two-month-old son, Bowen. As a family, they love riding their side-by-side, relaxing on the porch to watch the sunset, and spending summer days floating the James River. They also have a cowboy corgi named ChewChew, who is still deciding how she feels about her new little brother. Perry has a special connection to Aurora Schools—her mother’s first teaching job was at Aurora High School, and Perry took her first steps there. She also graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy last November and says that after being both tased and pepper sprayed, she has no interest in repeating either experience.

Austin Wilson – Robinson PE Teacher
Austin brings 10 years of teaching experience to Robinson School, including six years in Aurora teaching at the Junior High and four years at Frontier School of Excellence in Kansas City. An Aurora resident, Austin is married to Hannah Wilson (also a Robinson Teacher) and is the proud father of two boys, Charley and Duke. He grew up in the area and graduated from Marionville High School in 2009. Austin enjoys spending time outdoors, following sports, and making memories with his family. He attended college on a track scholarship and has longstanding ties to Aurora, having attended school here from 3rd through 7th grade. He and his family attend Aurora Baptist Temple, and he is excited to continue serving students and families in the Aurora community.

Welcome to Aurora R8!

Aurora R8 is proud to announce new hires for the 2026–2027 school year.

Please join us in welcoming Abigail Benton as our new 7th Grade ELA Teacher. Abigail brings five years of teaching experience, including three years in 5th grade and two years in 6th grade, teaching all subjects. She lives in Mount Vernon and describes herself as a bubbly person who never meets a stranger. Abigail enjoys sports, spending time outdoors, reading, writing, and drawing. She is the proud mother of a two-year-old daughter, Annelise, and has two dogs that think they are human. Some interesting facts about Abigail include having four knee surgeries between the ages of 18 and 21, being a born-and-raised river rat, and having a lot of knowledge when it comes to theology from being a pastor's kid.

Please join us in welcoming Katlyn Branson as our new Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor. Katlyn brings five years of experience from Southwest High School in Washburn. Originally from Warrenton, Missouri, she grew up on a small sheep and goat farm and was heavily involved in both 4-H and FFA. She attended Missouri State University and fell in love with Southwest Missouri, deciding to make it her home. Outside of school, Katlyn enjoys helping her boyfriend with his cattle and crop operation. Some interesting facts about Katlyn include enjoying truck and tractor pulls, shooting black powder rifles and trapping, and owning a small business that makes cake pops and cookies.

We are excited to welcome Abigail and Katlyn to Aurora R8 and look forward to the experience, enthusiasm, and passion they will bring to our students, programs, and school community.

Aurora R8 is proud to announce new hires for the 2026–2027 school year.

Please join us in welcoming Web Freeman as our new High School ELA Teacher and Speech & Debate Coach. Web brings extensive experience to Aurora R8, having taught grades 5–12 in Republic, Sparta, and Springfield, as well as serving as a part-time instructor at OTC for the past 26 years. He lives in Republic with his wife and their three dogs, Mable, Edie, and Clive. Together they have two grown daughters, one living in Springfield and the other attending the University of Missouri. In his free time, Web enjoys fly fishing, reading nonfiction, and watching movies with his wife.

Please join us in welcoming Marcus Reynolds as our new Industrial Technology Teacher. Marcus brings many years of experience in education and is proud to call Aurora home. He describes himself as a hands-on, no-nonsense person who enjoys learning new skills and becoming self-sufficient. Marcus values his faith, adores his wife, enjoys sharing his knowledge with others, and loves spending time on the open road riding his motorcycle. Some interesting facts about Marcus include that he moved to a different house every two years until he was 34 years old, was one of only 100 riders selected worldwide in 2019 to compete in the 2021 IBR motorcycle endurance event, and regularly rides 500–1,000 miles in a single day on his motorcycle just to have lunch with friends.

We are excited to welcome Web and Marcus to Aurora R8 and look forward to the experience, knowledge, and passion they will bring to our students, programs, and school community.

Aurora R8 will host a Free Shot Clinic & Sports Physicals event on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. at Aurora High School!

This event is open to:
• Students needing updated school immunizations
• Student-athletes needing a sports physical for the 2026–2027 school year

No appointment is necessary, and walk-ins are welcome.

Please note: Vaccines are free for students with Medicaid. For students without Medicaid, there is a $10 charge per vaccine.

Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please bring an insurance card if applicable, though insurance is not required.
