Aurora FOP Lodge 49 is saddened to hear of the passing of our 2nd Vice President, Agent Troy Raines. Troy passed Saturday morning after a courageous battle with cancer.
In March of 2025, Troy assumed the role of 2nd Vice President on the Executive Board. His passion and dedication to the FOP membership was second to none.
Troy was also the President of the Colorado chapter for the Brotherhood for the Fallen. I had the opportunity of traveling with him to several funerals across the country honoring fallen officers and supporting their families.
Troy served honorably in the United States military and his law enforcement career spanned several decades. Troy’s impact on his fellow officers and the communities he served will be remembered for years to come.
Rest easy our brother, Troy Raines.
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our President, Agent Troy Raines, who left us this morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Troy believed deeply in the mission of . Even while facing his own challenges, he devoted countless hours to ensuring that no fallen officer would be forgotten and no family would stand alone. We were incredibly fortunate to know him and stand beside him, witnessing firsthand the dedication, humor, and unwavering spirit he brought every single day.
He also served as a dedicated detective in the Major Crimes Homicide Unit at the Aurora Police Department, tirelessly seeking justice for homicide victims and their families.
“Troy was never defined by his cancer diagnosis and instead stood as a true example of sacrifice and service to others," said Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain. “As president of the Brotherhood of the Fallen, he touched so many lives and ensured that fallen officers across the nation received the honors and acknowledgement so rightly deserved.”
Please keep Troy’s family, friends, and the Aurora Police Department in your hearts during this incredibly difficult time. We will honor his legacy by continuing the mission he cared so deeply about.
Rest easy, brother. We have the watch from here.
