The Jr. Tomcats opened their football season with a 18-14 comeback victory over Batavia Rotolo Middle School.

After trailing 14-0 at halftime, the team scored 18 unanswered points in the second half, taking the lead on a 45-yard touchdown pass with 26 seconds remaining before a final defensive stop secured the win.

The Jr. Tomcats next play Washington Middle School on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Cowherd Middle School.

CELEBRATING A NEW SCOREBOARD: D 131 has a new scoreboard at Roy E. Davis Field. An unveiling ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Aug. 28 at East High's Roy E. Davis Field at Ellsworth Hill Stadium, 500 Tomcat Lane, Aurora. A brief ceremony will be held between the sophomore and varsity games, and the public is invited to attend. The district and the Aurora East Educational Foundation recognizes the many individuals, volunteers and businesses that have supported the East Aurora Educational Foundation over the years. During the first few stadium events, a scrolling message board will display a message of thanks to these supporters. We hope to see Friday night! Thank you to all our friends at the Aurora East Educational Foundation.

Looking for a fun weekend activity for the whole family? The African American Parent Association (AAPA) is hosting its 1st Annual School Carnival, and all East Aurora students and families of all ages are invited!

AAPA works to bridge the connection between our schools and families while expanding academic and career resources for our students. Come out to enjoy classic carnival games, exciting prizes, great community connection, and free food (available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last)!

⚡ WEATHERING THE STORM TO WELCOME 80+ NEW EDUCATORS! ⛈️🍎

Not even last week's severe weather could blow away the excitement at our New Educator Orientation! East Aurora District 131 was thrilled to welcome over 80 new staff members, including certified teachers, support staff, and student teachers across all our schools.

Among our 48 new certified teachers:
🎓 21 are fresh college grads starting their teaching journey!
🍎 27 are seasoned veterans bringing their experience to EASD 131!

Our new team kicked off the year with a welcome from Superintendent Dr. Halverson, tailored learning sessions with our New Educator Support Team (NEST), and classroom setup time. They also enjoyed a "Taste of Aurora" from local spots and walked away with supply raffles to stock their rooms!

We’re so proud to welcome these amazing educators to the Tomcat family!

🎒 Yesterday officially kicked off the 2026–2027 school year! Superintendent Dr. Halverson and members of the East Aurora Board of Education visited every single school across the district to welcome our students, teachers, and staff back to the classroom.

From bright, excited smiles to a few big first-day feelings (and tears!) from our youngest learners, yesterday was a powerful reminder of why our district theme this year is "From Belonging to Becoming." By welcoming new friends, helping one another, and building a supportive community, we ensure every student feels at home from day one.

To mark six decades of serving our community, WCC is hosting a huge, family-friendly anniversary celebration at their Sugar Grove Campus, and all EASD 131 families and alumni are invited to join in the fun!

EASD 131 WELCOMES BACK OUR EDUCATORS! 🥁✨
Today, East Aurora District 131 officially kicked off the 2026–2027 school year as we welcomed back our incredible teachers, staff, and administrators!

The energy was electric from the start! The East Aurora High School Marching Band, NJROTC, and Tomcat Cheer Team brought the hype and rallied the crowd to start the year off strong.

Our staff heard inspiring messages from district leaders, union representatives, and Board of Education President Juan Sifuentes. Additionally, Superintendent Dr. Halverson reflected on his first year in the district, sharing key insights and laying out a powerful vision for this school year's theme: "From Belonging to Becoming Their Best Self.". 🌟

Our entire East Aurora team is energized, inspired, and officially ready to welcome our students back to the classroom on Wednesday, August 19! Let's make it an unforgettable year! 🐾

🎒 What a day at the East Aurora Back-to-School Fair! 🍦✨

Thousands of Tomcat families joined us on Saturday, August 8, to gear up for the new school year! Thanks to our amazing community partners and volunteers, we distributed 3,000 free backpacks and supply kits to help our students step into the classroom ready to succeed.

💇‍♂️ Special thanks to our incredible local stylists:
• The volunteer barbers at Scum Lounge gave fresh haircuts to 70 students!
• The stylists at Do or Dye Designs treated 20 female students to full salon services!

Families also connected with 15+ community organizations, enjoyed sweet treats like churros, snow cones, and ice cream to beat the heat inside!

Shoutout to event organizers, our Board members, staff, and volunteers who made this day possible. We can't wait to see our students shine this school year!
