Representative Barbara Hernandez East Aurora Born and Raised State Legislator. Office Hours: Open Mon-Thur from 9am-5pm Barbara Hernandez was born and raised in the East Side of Aurora.

Barbara is the first in her family to attend college. She graduated from Waubonsee Community College in 2012, and from Aurora University in 2014 & 2021. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master's in Public Administration from Aurora University. Since she was 14 years old, she has been actively involved in the community and knew she wanted to get involved in politics to fight a

long with people who could fix the broken immigration system, which her family had a personal connection to. Barbara was elected as the youngest elected official on the Kane County Board in 2016. Currently, she is the youngest Latina State Representative in the Illinois House of Representatives, and she was appointed in 2019.

Municipalities, local governments, and nonprofit agencies providing specialized transportation to seniors and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply!

Today, Governor Pritzker signed SB3484, the Micromobility Device Regulation, which establishes and updates laws governing e-scooters, e-bikes, and bicycles to ensure safer practices for riders and the public. I am proud to have championed this bill alongside Senator Villivalam to help keep many Illinoisans safe.

Many municipalities and cities have already established their own ordinances and rules for e-scooters and e-bikes; please follow yours for your safety and your neighbors'.

Over the weekend, Governor Pritzker signed one of my bills, SB3321, which amends the Local Government of Credit Cards Act to allow local governments to use their procured payment processing system. The bill was signed on August 24, 2026, and takes effect immediately.
