Yesterday, I toured the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center with DuPage Forest Preserve President Dan Hebreard and education specialist Stephanie Touzalin. I am grateful for this chance to see the re-imagined outdoor structures and am absolutely amazed at the scope of rehabilitation care available to over 200 species brought in from surrounding areas.

The new rehabilitation center allows DuPage Forest Preserve to expand its operations and focus on giving the wildlife much needed calm and support while they heal from their ailments. Truly an impressive and important facility for our county.

My next mobile office hours will be October 19th from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Wheaton Public Library. These events are a great chance for constituents and district groups to let me know about the issues most important to them.

Staff from Senator Tammy Duckworth's office will be in attendance to assist with questions about federal agencies regarding issues like passports, immigration, Medicare, Social Security, and more.

Happy Hispanic Heritage month! As someone who grew up in a Mexican household and a member of the Latino Caucus, I am proud of my Hispanic heritage and the influence it continues to have on my life.

Congratulations to Chief Richard Sander of the Lombard Fire Department on his retirement! I was honored to attend his walk-out ceremony yesterday and thank him personally for his life-long career in public service.

Chief Sander served as chief for the Lombard Fire Department for 10 years and as a fire service member for over 40 years. I once again thank him for his dedication to our community.

Thank you to the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau for hosting me in Jacksonville and educating me about harvest time. A massive industry, the IL Agricultural sector creates over 425,000 jobs and adds $57.8 billion to the IL economy.

Farmer Dale Hadden showed us the process of harvesting one of his soybean fields and even allowed me to drive the combine! After the harvest, we stopped by a cattle field to learn a bit about the IL beef industry. We also toured the Bartlett Grain Elevator, which helps distribute grain to various economies. From weather to tariffs to the price of diesel, the farmers informed me about the issues impacting the agricultural industry.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to grow my relationship with the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau through the Adopt-a-Farmer program and learn about the agricultural sector!

I toured the National University of Health Sciences over on Roosevelt Road to learn more about its programs. Founded in 1906 and a fixture in the Lombard community since 1963, it was exciting to finally tour the campus I've driven past numerous times.

I was impressed by its extensive research on acupuncture and its clinic, which gives students hands-on experience while providing services to community members. Learn more here: https://www.nuhs.edu/

I attended NAMI DuPage's ribbon cutting for expanded access to its Living Room. The NAMI DuPage Living Room is a free, peer-led alternative to the emergency room for adults 18 and older experiencing a mental health crisis. The Living Room is now opened 24/7 and accepts walk-ins.
