The Scottsburg Police Department is pleased to announce the successful conviction of an individual following a thorough investigation and prosecution. Please refer to the attached release from Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens for additional details.

This conviction resulted from an investigation led by Chief Herald of the Scottsburg Police Department.

This outcome reflects the dedication and professionalism of the investigating officers, the support of witnesses and community members, and the efforts of the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office in the pursuit of justice.

The Scottsburg Police Department remains committed to protecting our community and holding offenders accountable for their actions. We would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.

Together, we continue to make our community a safer place to live, work, and visit.

The Austin Police Department would like to congratulate Reserve Lt. Greg Sebastian on his recent retirement from the Austin Police Department Reserves. Greg was one of the first reserves in the program for the City of Austin starting his career in 1993. Greg left the program in 2000 and then return to the program again from 2008-2026. Greg has served the department for 25 years. We want to thank Greg for his service to the community and the citizens of Austin. We would like to also thank his family for their continued support of the Department and its reserve program.

The Austin Police Department wants to recognize and congratulate Major Lonnie Noble on his retirement from the Department. Major Noble started full-time for the department in August of 1994. During his time at the Austin Police Department Major Noble has served in many positions such as Chief of Police, Detective, Instructor as well as School Resource Officer. The Department wants to wish you well and thank you for 31 years of service as a full-time police officer.

The Austin Police Department is opening up the process for a full-time police officer. This process will fill a position for an upcoming retirement. Applications can be picked up at the Austin Police Department. Applications need to be turned back into the Austin Police Department by July 18, 2025.

Information:

The Robbie Henson Memorial Run will be held in Austin on May 24, 2025 at the Austin Community Park on Broadway Street. The Race starts at 9:00 am. The route of the race is located in this post. During the race there will be police vehicles, fire vehicles, and cones marking the route. Streets will be blocked off to traffic during the race. Please use caution during this time.

Please come out and support our reserve program. They will be hosting a free community breakfast on 4/12/2025 at the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church in Austin. This will be from 7:00 am till 11:30 am. Come out and enjoy a breakfast with your local police officers. Any donations will go to the Austin Police Department Reserve program.
