BREAKING NEWS: The Belfast Bridge and Trail project just took a big step forward.

This morning, the Austin City Council approved a resolution to negotiate a funding agreement with TxDOT -- the pass-thru entity for federal funds secured by Rep. Lloyd Doggett for the project.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2029, following a bidding and design process. "We are going to get this done," District 4 Councilmember & Mayor Pro Tem Chito Vela said at the council meeting.

WP neighbors have been advocating for this project for a decade. Follow the Belfast Bridge and Trail page for background and more info.

Nice turn out at the WP Free Cafe this morning. It was fun catching up with neighbors and meeting new ones. Thanks again Hank's Austin for the coffee.

This just in: The Free Cafe will be a super kid-friendly event with sidewalk chalk, bubble machine, and maybe even pirate ship rides, so we hear?! Adults enjoy free coffee from Hank's Austin (thanks Hank's!), baked goodies, mellow live music, and conversation. ATTN WoW volunteers: Meet up at 9am for a group pic!
