Through our Community Action Teams, we equip children, parents, and communities with the knowledge to recognize signs of abuse, speak up, and take action before it’s too late.

When it comes to protecting a child, timing is everything.

That’s why our prevention teams train community members, teachers and parents to notice risk and report it immediately through a clear pathway that connects directly to Rescue One More and local child protection services.

As we confront the heartbreaking reality of child abuse and neglect, we cannot help but ask: What will it take for us to truly protect every child?

Each month, we encounter stories of abuse and neglect that stop us in our tracks. You would think we would become used to hearing them. We never do.

Every child who walks through our doors carries a wound, but each one carries a completely different story. And that is exactly the point: this is not one crisis. It is countless children, each one deserving to be seen, heard, protected, and given the chance to heal.

While every story is shocking, we work to turn that shock into action.

Child protection is everyone’s responsibility. Listen to survivors. Challenge the silence. Hold one another accountable. Demand better.

Every child deserves a childhood filled with love, safety, and the freedom to dream.

Yet for far too many children, that promise is stolen by trafficking, exploitation, and sexual violence.

On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we remember what is too often hidden: children being exploited, silenced, and stripped of the safety they were born to know. And yet, even in the hardest places, we also see what cannot be taken away: dignity, resilience, and the will to survive.

Ending child trafficking is more than preventing exploitation; it is creating a world where every child is seen, valued, protected, and allowed to flourish.

Today, let us be the generation that refuses to look away. Let us raise our voices, strengthen our communities, and stand together until every child can grow up free from violence and fear.

Because of your vigilance and support, Quarter 2 brought meaningful progress in protecting children across Kampala and Mukono.

Last quarter, more children were brought to safety, families received the support they needed, and communities were equipped with the knowledge to better protect children from sexual violence.

Every child reached represents a life changed and a future made safer.

A 75-year-old HIV-positive man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated defilement against three girls aged 7, 9, and 12.

This conviction was made possible through the dedication of our Makindye Community Action Team, local authorities, and supporters who believe every child deserves justice.

This is just one story that reflects the justice, support, and hope made possible every day through our collective efforts.

Every child who comes through our doors carries a story that should never have been theirs to bear.

What perpetrators intended for harm, God is redeeming through healing, justice, restoration, and hope.

Seeing our children able to sing, play and dance is proof that God can bring good from even the darkest circumstances.

Together, we are helping children move from trauma to healing.

Often, when we ask children and caregivers why abuse was not reported earlier, we hear the same response: “We didn’t know where to report.”

Knowing where to report can make the difference between a child receiving justice and a perpetrator going free.

If a child discloses abuse to you, report it immediately at your local police station or call the Uganda Child Helpline at 116 or the Police toll-free at 0800 199 195

Reporting abuse is the first step toward protecting children.
