Justice Brad Hart

Justice Brad Hart Pol. Ad Pd. for by Brad Hart Campaign, Hunter Hart, Treasurer. There I gained the experience needed to be promoted to handling felony cases. God Bless,
Brad

After graduating from Baylor University and South Texas College of Law, Johnny Holmes hired me as a Harris County Assistant District Attorney in 1997. As with most prosecutors I started out in the Misdemeanor Division, handling anything from Class C traffic tickets up to DWI, thefts and assaults. My first felony court assignment was in the 339th District Court, where in 7 months I tried a record,

at the time, 17 jury trials. I had the privilege of serving Harris County in several positions at the District Attorney’s Office, including the Family Criminal Law Division, Chief of the Justice Courts Section, Deputy Chief of the Misdemeanor Division, Harris County Organized Crime Unit, Crimes Against Children Division and several of the felony trial courts. I was promoted to Felony District Court Chief in 2006 after the successful prosecution of a man who shot and killed a woman who was walking to her car and of a man who shot a Houston Police Department Officer in the face. After becoming a chief felony prosecutor I handled many Capital Murders, including the death penalty case of a man who robbed and murdered an elderly woman who was trying to help him get back on his feet after Hurricane Katrina. My final assignment was in the Major Offenders Division of the Special Prosecutions Bureau, working on upper level narcotics traffickers and violent offenders. In 2011 I was named Prosecutor of the Year by the Texas Narcotics Officers Association. In addition to these duties, over the years, I traveled the state teaching everyone from Justices of the Peace, to new prosecutors, to rookie and experienced police officers. On January 7, 2013, Governor Rick Perry appointed me to be Judge of the 230th District Court where I used all of my training and experience to ensure justice and fairness for all. I served as Judge until 2018. During that time my court was routinely found to be one of the most efficient courts, maintaining one of the lowest dockets while trying the most cases. In 2018 I was named Judge of the Year by the Texas Gang Investigators Association. After the 2018 election I joined the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office as Chief of the Felony Trial Division. Now I am running to bring my years of expertise, experience and work ethic to the 14th Court Of Appeals, Place 8. I would be honored to have your support.

Honored to be at the Texas Capital today for the investitures of Justice James Sullivan and Justice Kyle Hawkins to the Supreme Court of Texas. Bonus opportunity of hearing from Justice Samuel Alito of the Supreme Court of the United States. Always an honor to serve in the Texas judiciary and to be reminded of the responsibility that comes with it.

Honored to take part in the Fort Bend Republican Women’s Club Holiday Luncheon today. After a quick “order in the court” to get everyone’s attention, I took a moment to thank the group for their efforts in last year's election. Then I had the privilege to swear in the new officers and membership. Grateful for all they do for our community.

Today, two of my fellow justices and I, along with some staff from the 14th COA, had the privilege of traveling to the 2nd Court of Appeals in Fort Worth to hear arguments in a case that was transferred to us. It was a great experience. The folks at the 2nd COA were so kind and welcoming, and the bailiff really took good care of us. The attorneys arguing the case were well-prepared and effective. It’s a privilege to serve the people of Texas and work alongside courts across our great state.

It was my honor to lead the Cypress Republicans meeting in the United States Pledge of Allegiance today. This group and all the grassroots in Northwest Harris County did so much to help us win the Court of Appeals this past election. Glad I could say "thank you" to them. Great to see so many friends from Heart of Tomball Republican Women's Club, Cherry Tree Republicans, Texas Tea Party Republican Women and more. I think this is the third event RPT Chair Abraham George and I have attended at the same time in the last few months. Very much enjoyed hearing from RPT Vice Chair D'Rinda Randle as well. This club is growing and working hard in Harris County. As always The Brambles, Cindy, Edith and everyone in the club did a fantastic job of running the meeting.
