ter has evolved from a Sunday-only ministry in borrowed space to a separately-incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, incorporated in April 2000, that offers a variety of programs and activities for the homeless population throughout the week. Trinity Center’s mission is to serve the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Austin, Texas. Trinity Center’s programs are based on a neighbor-to-neighbor approach that fosters trust and community between those who have housing and a steady income and those who do not. We offer hospitality, compassion and companionship, financial assistance, support for women, food, and a place of worship and spiritual renewal for those who have lost the comforts of home and the feelings of care and concern from others. Being a small organization allows us to offer a personal, familiar touch as we work with our neighbors each day. We greet each other as neighbors instead of as providers and clients. We treat our neighbors with dignity and respect. In fact, we feel very proud of the manner in which our staff and volunteers “lead by acceptance,” resulting in neighbors who feel acknowledged and understood, have a sense of ownership of Trinity Center, and consider it their community center. For two months, we’ve been serving as a Cooling Center in the afternoons, keeping our neighbors inside and safe during the most dangerous hours of the day. But while our afternoon hours have expanded, our morning operations have continued as usual.

One example is Women’s Day every Monday. 💜From 9 am to 1 pm, our space is dedicated to only women and individuals who identify as female. Showers, clothing, breakfast, coffee, and other services are available, along with resources and activities specifically designed to support our female neighbors.

✨Once a month, The Source joins us to provide pregnancy and other health testing. Every other week, SAFE offers one-on-one support to anyone experiencing domestic violence. Throughout the year, different groups also bring activities like conversation circles, painting, bracelet making, movement workshops, and more.✨

It’s all part of our effort to bring women together in one welcoming space where they can access resources, connect with others, and experience a little joy, peace, and serenity for a few hours. And Mondays are extra special because we see so many familiar faces. Our regular neighbors know our staff and volunteers, and we know them too. There’s a sense of familiarity and community that makes Women’s Day something we all look forward to.

This year, we’re especially grateful to Impact Austin, a new supporter of Trinity Center. Through their generous grant, they have not only helped make our Cooling Center initiative possible but are also supporting some of our year-round programs, including services offered during Women’s Day.

A couple of days ago, Raising Cane's co-sponsored a delicious meal for our neighbors during Cooling Center hours. We know fried chicken is a favorite, and they truly stepped up with an amazing spread: fried chicken, bread, French fries, sauce, lemonade, and tea! It was definitely a comforting meal that our neighbors really enjoyed. 💙 Thank you, Canes!!

We still have a few Thursdays open and are looking for sponsors for our afternoon meals, including this Thursday!🍽️

You can cook a homemade meal, buy from your favorite local spot- tacos, burritos, burgers, or whatever you love- or simply donate the funds and we’ll take care of the rest.

Our neighbors rely on clothing donations to access clean, comfortable clothing, especially during our clothing days and after using services like showers.

Recently, the Chamber of Commerce hosted one of their networking events at Trinity Center, creating a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, connect with local businesses, and have meaningful conversations, all while serving our neighbors in downtown Austin.

During their time with us, the group sorted and organized clothing donations, deep-cleaned our main space so we could welcome our neighbors into a clean environment, prepared and served breakfast, and put together hygiene kits with encouraging notes.

We love hosting groups that come together for a good cause while also building connections with each other and with our community. If you have a group of friends, coworkers, or family members and want to spend time together while making a difference, reach out to us! We’d be happy to welcome you 🙂

As a Cooling Center, our goal is to offer more than just a place to escape the heat. We’re always looking for ways to go a little further in caring for our neighbors and supporting their overall well-being during the summer months.

Staying safe in extreme heat takes a lot of energy. Over time, these conditions can leave our neighbors exhausted, less alert, and unwell. That’s why this year, in addition to showers, meals, refreshments, and other essential services, we expanded our daytime sleeping and resting area.

From 2 to 7 pm, when the Cooling Center closes, our neighbors have the opportunity to sleep, rest, and recharge in the quiet of St. David’s Gymnasium. Knowing that they and their belongings are safe, and that they are in a familiar environment, can be a rare gift, and having a peaceful place to rest can make a real difference in how they face the rest of their day and the challenges ahead.

We’re incredibly grateful for this space and for the opportunity to put it to such meaningful use. We also want to take a moment to thank St. David's Episcopal Church, through the Next to New Shop, for their financial support of the Cooling Center initiative this year.

Trinity Center was one of six organizations selected to receive a 2026 community grant. Funding for community grants comes from sales at , and we can’t thank them enough for walking alongside us as we work to address the many basic needs of our unhoused neighbors during these summer months.

482 showers since the start of the Cooling Center on June 29! 🚿

Think about the last time you took a shower. You probably didn’t have to think twice about where you would shower, whether you had soap or a towel, or where you would find privacy. You simply turned on the water.

For our unhoused neighbors, that same everyday routine can require planning, searching, and depending on what resources are available. Something as basic as being able to get clean should not be a privilege; it should be part of everyone’s basic dignity.

Every afternoon during Cooling Center hours, we offer up to 20 showers, along with clean clothing, as part of the many services available to our neighbors this summer. For three months, our extended hours provide a safe, cool place to escape the heat while helping meet basic needs.

And we couldn’t do this work alone. Today, we want to thank Glimmer Austin, one of our incredible partners, for believing in this initiative and helping make these afternoon services possible. Their support reflects a deep commitment to investing in organizations addressing critical needs across the Austin community.

Beyond showers and a safe indoor space, the Cooling Center also offers meals, refreshments, and water throughout the afternoon, a quiet place to sleep and rest, hygiene items, bus passes, and more.

Since the beginning of the Cooling Center, the Art from the Streets outreach team has been visiting Trinity Center to offer our neighbors a space to express themselves through art, connect with others, and simply enjoy a peaceful moment while painting, coloring, and creating other crafts.

Caring for our unhoused community also means caring for their mental and emotional well-being alongside meeting basic needs through the services provided at the Cooling Center. Art from the Streets is helping us do just that 💜💜

Did you know your old, broken, out-of-style, or simply unwanted jewelry can help support a great cause? In our case, it can help the neighbors we serve here every day, and Gold4Good makes it incredibly easy. 💛

We partner with Gold4Good, who recycle and refine your old chains, rings, bracelets, mismatched earrings, cufflinks, and other gold or platinum jewelry. Then, they donate the market value of your eligible items directly to non-profit organizations like Trinity Center.

Over 2,000 visits in July alone. While many of us seek relief from the summer heat indoors, our neighbors experiencing homelessness often have nowhere to escape. Every day, extreme temperatures put their health, safety, and well-being at risk.

As temperatures continue to rise, we're responding in a practical way, offering not only a safe, air-conditioned place to be, but also access to essential services.

We aren't doing this work alone. Today, we want to extend a special thank you to JP's Peace Love & Happiness Foundation, one of the supporters of our Cooling Center. Their generosity has helped make this initiative possible from the very beginning, allowing us to respond to our community's needs throughout the summer.🧡

Every afternoon, we witness the gratitude of those who walk through our doors to take a shower, enjoy a meal, rest safely, or simply find relief from the heat indoors. Their words remind us why this work matters, and today we want to share some with you.

💤Day sleep monitor: Neighbors can sleep all afternoon in a quiet, safe space. We’re looking for volunteers to help monitor the entrance and exit during this time.

📧 Front desk: Assist with mail-related duties such as sorting, stamping, purging, “return to sender” processing, and shredding as needed. 🧴Hand out cooling hygiene items for neighbors.

👕Clothing & showers: Support our Shower Coordinator by distributing clothing and hygiene supplies to neighbors for their showers. 👚Help us sort through clothing donations.
