📚 Better ATX 🤝 AISD: Supporting Summer Reading & Student Success
One of the most important parts of the Better ATX School Communities program is promoting literacy — especially in the summer, when many students have limited access to books. Research shows that reading just two books over the break helps kids maintain their reading level.
That’s why, more than 10 years ago, Better ATX partnered with AISD to bring books directly into neighborhoods through the Book Bus. Today, we continue to purchase, process, and prepare thousands of books so students can choose their own — and build a home library of their very own.
This week, our volunteers gathered to finish stamping and stickering each book with “A gift from Better ATX” before they head out on the AISD Book Bus this summer.
Book ownership matters. Access matters. Literacy matters.
And we’re proud to stand with AISD to make sure every child has stories to take home. 📖
