Texas A&M Forest Service is taking the risks presented by COVID-19 seriously. Support and ground resources on the Holcombe Road Fire continue to battle the wildfire while following safety guidelines recommended by the CDC. All resources are asked to practice social distancing when possible. Masks are worn when room occupancy exceeds recommendations, and sanitation of work stations and common areas is conducted throughout the day. Hand sanitizer has been passed out to personnel and good personal hygiene has been stressed to ground resources in order to practice safety recommendations while out on the fire line.

Guidelines can be found at: https://www.doi.gov/wildlandfire/wildfires-covid-19 or https://www.nwcg.gov/committees/emergency-medical-committee/infectious-disease-guidance.

Oak Hill Fire Department cancels Pancake Breakfast and Egg Hunt

Out of an abundance of caution concerning COVID-19, the Oak Hill Fire Department has arrived at the conclusion that we must cancel next month's Pancake Breakfast and Egg Hunt.

While we remind the community that our risk is low, we understand that having a large number of people in close proximity for an extended period of time is not the best situation to place you in.
Additionally, we want to ensure that we are doing all we can to protect your Firefighters from illness so they can remain healthy to continue serving you in your times of need.

So, we'll look forward to seeing you at our annual Open House in October and then again at next year's Pancake Breakfast and Egg Hunt.

We attended a Patriot’s Day Commemoration sponsored by Travis County ESD #3/Oak Hill Fire Department and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4443 to honor the lives lost on 9/11. The memorial features scaled twin towers and an actual piece of steel from the world trade center. We also hand-delivered a gift basket to the firefighters with representatives from Texas Mutual Insurance Company in appreciation for all the Texas firefighters and emergency medical responders do to keep our communities safe. Thank you to all first responders for helping build a stronger, safer Texas!

We stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighboring Westlake Fire Department as we all mourn the loss of Lieutenant Askew. We all count him as not just a peer and co-worker, but as a friend.

The Westlake Fire Department regrets to announce the death of one of our own. On Sunday evening May 12, 2019, Lieutentant Chris Askew passed after a short fight with cancer. Lieutenant Askew is a 15 year veteran of the Fire Department and is survived by his wife Jennifer Askew, his daughter Lauren and son Luke. Funeral arrangements to honor Lt. Did you know? The Commissioners of Travis County Emergency Services District #3 (who operate the Oak Hill Fire Department) created the Oak Hill Regional Emergency Response Training Foundation years ago to assist with their popular Fire Academy.

An annual memorial softball tournament is conducted by the Oak Hill Professional Firefighters' Association Local 4253 and the family of our fallen firefighter Cohnway Johnson to provide scholarship funds to the Foundation to award to deserving men and women attending the District's Fire Academy. This is the only fundraising effort conducted to raise scholarship funds to help train new Firefighters to work throughout the state of Texas.

You can now easily help the Foundation raise funds for scholarships by simply linking the Foundation with your Amazon shopping experience. By selecting the Oak Hill Regional Emergency Response Training Foundation as your charity of choice, a portion of your expenditures will be donated to the Foundation at no cost to you. Your pricing on Amazon doesn't change; it only tells Amazon how you'd like to make a difference in your community so they route their donations to the Foundation based on a percentage of your purchases.

More information on the Amazon donation program and sign up information can be found here: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/20-8425823

When you shop at AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate to Oak Hill Regional Emergency Response Training Foundation. Support us every time you shop.

Here's a quick look at the briefing being conducted just minutes before #TIFMAS Task Force 5 deployed to California earlier this afternoon.

Departments represented on Task Force 5 were: Austin Fire Department, Oak Hill Fire Department, Round Rock Fire Department, Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Kyle Fire Department, and Bryan Fire Department. These folks will be driving to California today to assist with their deadly wildfires.

Task Force 6 also came by Station 301 for a quick meet up and then hit the road as well. Task Force 6 consisted of trucks and personnel from: Austin Fire Department, Round Rock Fire Department, New Braunfels Fire Department, and Kyle Fire Department.

Total deployed from the 24-County TIFMAS Central Branch were 37 personnel with 13 trucks. They were part of a group of 10 Task Forces of around 200 firefighters deploying from Texas to California under the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (#TIFMAS).

It's with deep regret that one of the founding members of the Oak Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. passed away December 20, 2019. His memorial service will be held at the Fredericksburg Funeral Home located @2278 US-87S, Fredericksburg, TX @3:00 pm December 27, 2019.
what were all the firetrucks responding to at 10:30pm tonight?
Thanks ,Chief, for saving our suburban/rural/wild interface neighborhood again! The Active Incident page for Austin & Travis County did not show the Thomas Springs/Blue Hills brush fire Sunday, but we were sure enveloped in smoke. We all appreciate your quick response, and knowing how to get any water reservoirs into action. Thanks to the neighbors whose ponds and pools serve as fire suppression resources. Everyone keep it safe out there. Peace.
