Samsung has made chips in Austin for almost 30 years. Now its newest fab is starting up in Taylor — and Michele Glaze, head of public affairs at Samsung Austin Semiconductor, was at the table for the economic development negotiations behind it.

A UT journalism grad, Michele has deep Central Texas roots. Her great-great-great-grandfather settled Rockne. She joins us Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Yesterday morning, Blaise Gainey of The Texas Newsroom gave MBC members a reporter's look at Texas' November races. His big takeaway: polling is unusually tight almost everywhere, and kitchen-table issues like inflation are doing much of the work.

On working in public media, he joked that people assume he's liberal — he's just glad they're reading.

Advice from former Austin Mayor Steve Adler's campaign manager: don't read the comments.

At this morning's MBC meeting, Adler explained how he learned to appreciate the difference between public discourse and social media. In one discussion about homelessness, he found 70% of commenters didn't live in Austin.

He also took us inside leading Austin through COVID, a new 10-district council and a growing city.
