In response to increased needs for particular services sought via Diversion & Intervention, Abda Agency has launched our Domestic Violence Housing and Survivor Services Project.

Abda Safe Pathways: Statewide Transitional Housing and Survivor Stability Project

Abda Safe Pathways is a statewide transitional housing and stability project that is site and scattered site based. Services are open to adults and minors with or without children or other dependents who are homeless as a result of domestic violence and demonstrated threat to life situations. Safe Pathways aims to provide survivors with the following:

•Temporary housing
•Food, clothing, and basic necessities
•Helping survivors locate housing
•Paying deposits or emergency expenses
•Referrals from shelters or advocates
•Safety-related relocation
•Case management
•Housing counseling
•Transportation
•Employment or benefits assistance
•Outreach or education
•Advocacy with landlords
•Other individual need based services and Individualized support

We anticipate the impact of Safe Pathways to shift upwards from 11 households to 60 over the next 2 - 4 year span. That would be 120 - 180 total individuals, based on household size. Those figures could be affected by need and demand as the past has shown smaller projects afford opportunities to identify unmet needs in our communities and tend to outpace projections based on metrics and trends.

Expanding Our Support for Survivors Across Texas

Through our Prevention and Diversion Program,
Abda Agency has assisted individuals and families facing difficult and unexpected circumstances. In many of these cases, domestic violence has been a primary cause of housing instability, displacement, and financial hardship.

In response to this growing need, Abda Agency is preparing to launch our Domestic Violence Housing and Survivor Services Project.

During the proposed 48-month project period, we anticipate serving at least 60 survivor households (approximately 15 households each year) throughout Texas. Participants may include survivors living independently, as well as survivors accompanied by children or other dependents.

Our project will provide transitional housing and voluntary, survivor-centered supportive services, including:

• Housing and relocation assistance
• Security and utility deposits
• Transportation and childcare assistance
• Case management and housing navigation
• Employment and financial education services
• Counseling and community-resource referrals
• Individualized voluntary support based on each survivor’s needs

Our goal is to help survivors move from crisis and housing instability toward safety, stability, healing, and long-term independence.

As we prepare for this important expansion, please continue supporting Abda Agency through donations, partnerships, referrals, advocacy, and community engagement.
