Second-generation Holocaust survivor and THGAAC Volunteer Speaker Claudia Loewenstein appeared on The ATPE Podcast to discuss how her family history and classroom experience have shaped her passion for Holocaust education.

In addition to approving Holocaust resources for use in Texas classrooms, the THGAAC supports a Speakers Bureau comprised of scholars, survivors or their descendants, and other experts bringing quality Holocaust instruction to communities across the state. Thanks to volunteers like Claudia, Texas students can connect to the Holocaust through personal testimony, creating space for important conversations and reflection.

📣 Austin kicked off Jewish American Heritage Month last week with both a proclamation AND a celebration – at City Hall!

I was incredibly proud and honored to to collaborate with Shalom Austin for this inaugural event. Well over 100 attendees joined the public celebration that included music, remarks from local religious and community leaders, delicious food, and plenty of time to chat and connect.

💙 Thank you to all the speakers who shared their personal Jewish stories, which were heartfelt, inspiring, and funny. I really appreciate my colleagues Mayor Watson, CM Alter, CM Qadri, CM Laine, and CM Vela for joining me, and of course all the community members who attended. What a great day in our beautiful city!
