Friends, family, community members, all are welcome to attend.
Free and open to the public.
Accessible parking and venue.
Public viewing hours daily from 11a to 4p.

This is what joy looks like!

Joy wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team of Resident Artists.
For the past year, these artist-instructors have been bringing joy to the lives of seniors in our community through community arts projects that they developed through our Joy for Seniors program.

Now, the culmination of all these months’ work is being displayed inside the Texas State Capitol for a special 5-day public exhibition!

What’s on display?
♥️ A 3-D installation of a prickly pear cactus made from repurposed materials
♥️ A 3-D rodeo scene, complete with interactive cowboy puppet
♥️ A large, interactive tribute to the annual kite festival in Zilker park
♥️ A mural of Town Lake with individually-painted vignettes
♥️ An interactive painting featuring Texas’ favorite state animal, the armadillo
♥️ A two-handed interactive armadillo puppet built entirely from repurposed materials

Come see these amazing community projects and meet the Resident Artists in person this Friday, August 27, at Joy at the Capitol. Resident artists will be onsite from 1p to 4p to answer questions about their projects, with artist talks scheduled during this time.

Where: Texas State Capitol building (room details upon RSVP)
When: August 27, 2026 | 1p to 4p
Admission: Free and open to the public. RSVP required. Space is limited due to room capacity and to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.
