Austin Aspires is proud to lead a 5-week family literacy series at the Austin Public Library using the Families READ Toolkit, developed by the Minnesota Department of Education, to help caregivers and children build joyful reading habits, strengthen literacy skills, and connect through stories and hands-on learning. Each week families will explore a new reading skill and learn simple strategies to support reading at home.

Tuesdays in June 2026
Session 1: 11:30AM-12:00PM
Session 2: 5:00PM-5:30PM
Free for families with children
ages 0-9

June 2nd – Digging for Sounds: Phonemic Awareness
Discover fun ways to help children hear and play with the sounds in
words.

Austin Aspires se enorgullece de liderar una serie de alfabetización familiar de 5 semanas utilizando el kit de herramientas Families READ, desarrollado por el Departamento de Educación de Minnesota, para ayudar a los cuidadores y a los niños a desarrollar hábitos de lectura placenteros, fortalecer las habilidades de alfabetización y conectar a través de cuentos y aprendizaje práctico.
Cada semana, las familias explorarán una nueva habilidad de lectura y aprenderán estrategias sencillas para fomentar la lectura en casa.

Join the Ladies Floral Club on Wednesday, April 29th at 6:00 p.m. for their annual Donate a Book event.

Enjoy strawberry themed treats, and choose a book to donate to the library's collection; a wonderful way to leave a legacy and support the library!

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased from any Floral Club member, or at the door the day of the event.

What if the next big discovery didn’t start in a lab… but in a library?

We often think of libraries as quiet places filled with books, but they’re also spaces where curiosity begins, where questions are asked, and where imagination soars.

On Saturday, May 2, in partnership with the Austin Public Library MN, we’re once again bringing science into that space.

Join Dr. Kayum Alam from The Hormel Institute at the Austin Public Library for Science Saturday, a hands-on experience where kids (and adults!) can explore science in a fun, approachable way, including making invisible ink.

Because the best way to spark a future scientist isn’t by telling them about science, it’s by letting them experience it.

And sometimes, all it takes is one moment of discovery to change everything.
