WilCo DSA

WilCo DSA As democratic socialists we envision a society where resources are democratically controlled and meet the human need. affiliate of the Socialist International.

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly democratic socialist presence in American communities and politics. Our vision is of a society in which people have a real voice in the choices and relationships that affect the

entirety of their lives. Our vision of socialism is a profoundly democratic one, rooted in the belief that individuals can only reach their full potential in a society that embodies the values of liberty, equality, and solidarity. Only through creating material and cultural bonds of solidarity across racial, religious, gender, age, national, and class lines can true equality of opportunity be achieved. We call this vision democratic socialism — a vision of a more free, democratic and humane society. As we are unlikely to see an immediate end to capitalism tomorrow, DSA fights for reforms today that will weaken the power of corporations and increase the power of working people. We are activists committed to democracy as not simply one of our political values but our means of restructuring society. We are socialists because we reject an international economic order sustained by private profit, alienated labor, race and gender discrimination, environmental destruction, and brutality and violence in defense of the status quo. We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane international social order based both on democratic planning and market mechanisms to achieve equitable distribution of resources, meaningful work, a healthy environment, sustainable growth, gender and racial equality, and non-oppressive relationships. We are socialists because we want to work together to develop a concrete strategy for achieving that vision, for achieving a transition to democratic socialism in America. We believe that such a strategy must acknowledge the class structure of American society and that this class structure means that there is a basic conflict of interest between those sectors with enormous economic power and the vast majority of the population. And we believe that only democratic movements and socialist parties can lead the way to a better world. Join us for progress, join us for equality, join us for justice…
