We’re doing an urgent mutual aid push for as much funding as possible to support catering our Overdose Awareness Day Remembrance gathering on August 31st!

We wish to offer a special gathering accessible to all along with an opportunity to provide resources for memorializing those lost to overdose in the past year.
*This event is welcome to all and is not itself an organizational fundraiser!

Event schedule will be shared in the coming days as we formalize our community giving.

Sybil Sybille, our REENTRY Mental Health Peer Specialist is presenting a new weekly support group titled: HEALING THROUGH KNOWLEDGE.

Participants are welcome to join every Tuesday at our updated time, 3:15-4:15pm.

This is an opportunity to share and learn tangible grounding and intention setting practices to navigate the challenges uniquely faced by those facing housing insecurity or are specifically unhoused. Chances to gather on personal restorative practice is just as vital as the peer support that accompanies the majority of our work.

We’re eager to hold space for remembrance and community on the 25th anniversary of International Overdose Awareness Day. Since 2001, this has been an opportunity for awareness to be nurtured through memory and homage.

We’re eager to have space specifically for those who are holding the memories of loved ones who are no longer with us. Part of our essential life saving work is honoring those who’ve been lost. We’ll have speakers, food, music, and several activities to pay tribute.

we’re deeply grateful. Grateful they had the tools to give someone a second chance.

Grateful folks are there, ready to act, when we are not.

Never use alone, a phone call can be a lifeline

Know the signs: slow breathing, blue lips, unresponsiveness

We’re in a place where harm reduction is needed more than ever while municipal funding is being withheld and the federal government denies it exists (see for yourself when you inquire about harm reduction on the NIH website).

This year, people we love died of an overdose.

Not a statistic. Not a stranger. Someone who sat in our Drop-In Center and brought us joy. Someone our outreach team knew by name and loved. Someone whose laugh we can still hear. Someone whose name is still etched on our porch.

THRA staff carried losses that no report can capture. August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day, 25 years and still remembering.

Every overdose death is preventable. It’s why we show up with naloxone, with supplies, with no judgment every single day.

With all the budget conversations happening, lets talk about what harm reduction really is.

This is what the peer-led team at THRA accomplished in one year, and just last week.

July 27–31, our team showed up for our neighbors:

💜 299 doses of naloxone in community hands
💜 19 overdose reversals reported back to us
💜 1,325 syringes safely off our streets
💜 195 wounds treated before they became ER visits
💜 291 bus passes, which means appointments made, not missed

Every reversal when nobody is around is a human life saved. Every wound treated at our drop-in is a five-figure ER bill that never happens. Every shower, snack pack, and bus pass is trust, and trust is what gets people to care before crisis.

We had 292 individuals visit the drop-in this week. 63 unique individuals met our outreach team where they are including 8 new stops found by our outreach team to stay connected with folks displaced by sweeps. Displacement interrupts care and we find them.

This is what peer-led harm reduction looks like. Tell City Council to fund what works.
