This National Awareness Week, we celebrate and thank Community Health Workers (CHWs) who are on the front lines of building healthier, more connected Texas communities. CHWs are trusted members of the communities they serve, helping connect neighbors with health and social services, improve access to care, and advance . 💙⚕️

We’re especially proud to recognize our AmeriCorps Partners, AccessHealth and Legacy Community Health for the important work they do to promote health and support Texans in their communities. Your dedication to service on the front lines makes a difference every day. 🙌

is strengthened when people show up for one another. Whether you’re helping connect someone to resources, supporting healthy lifestyles, improving access to food and services, or building relationships and trust, you have a role to play in creating healthier communities. This week and beyond, we celebrate the CHWs who make a difference and find ways to join them in serving our communities. 👉 Visit VolunteerTX.org to find volunteer opportunities that promote community health and make a difference where you live.

Nonprofits are not simply responding to the needs of our communities. We are part of the infrastructure that makes thriving communities possible. 💙🛠️🧱

We were honored to join fellow nonprofit champions yesterday at the National Nonprofit Day Celebration hosted by Nonprofit Austin at ACC. The evening was a powerful reminder to be bold, take risks, embrace innovation, and recognize the extraordinary impact that happens when people come together around a shared purpose.

As Nonprofit Austin celebrates 25 years of strengthening the Central Texas nonprofit sector, we are grateful for the leaders, organizations, and changemakers who continue to show what is possible when we invest in community. Thank you to Nonprofit Austin at Austin Community College District for bringing us together to celebrate, connect, and recommit to the vital role nonprofits play in building a stronger Texas. 🌟🤝

This National Nonprofit Day, let's shine a spotlight on the more than 130,000 nonprofits across Texas that are helping our communities thrive. We're celebrating by thanking every nonprofit leader, staff member, volunteer, donor, board member, and community partner whose dedication makes a difference every day! 💙🌱 💪

Texas nonprofits are more than service providers: they are employers, innovators, advocates, community builders, and trusted partners. Together, the sector contributes $137 billion to the Texas economy and supports 1.22 million jobs across the state. From rural communities to our largest cities, nonprofits are meeting needs, creating opportunity, mobilizing volunteers, and bringing people together to solve challenges and build a stronger Texas.

But celebrating nonprofits also means recognizing the importance of supporting and advocating for the sector. Strong nonprofits mean stronger communities, and a strong nonprofit sector needs all of us to raise our voices. 📢📈🛠️ Learn more about the vital role nonprofits play in Texas, explore Built For Texas data, and find ways to advocate for the sector at txnonprofits.org.

What can we do better together? That's a question we asked at West Texas Rural Philanthropy Days, held last week in Alpine, Texas. 🌵🤝 This year's theme, "Rooted in Reality: Cultivating Growth by Building Relationships and Community," celebrated the resilience of rural nonprofits and the partnerships that help communities flourish.

We were honored to deliver the opening keynote and join nonprofit leaders, funders, and community partners from across the region for meaningful conversations about collaboration, capacity building, and innovative solutions. The conference created opportunities to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and equip organizations with practical tools to create lasting impact.

Thank you to our network partner Nonprofit Management Center and other local philanthropic leaders for bringing together such an inspiring community dedicated to strengthening rural Texas. We are honored to support you in building stronger nonprofits across our state! 💙

Thank you to AmeriCorps Chief of Staff Mark Lloyd and Acting AmeriCorps VISTA Director Brendan Murphy for joining OneStar in last week to experience the impact of national service firsthand through visits with Breakthrough Houston and Camp SHiEld - After Military Service.

These visits provided an opportunity to connect federal investment with real-world impact, showcasing how Volunteers are helping strengthen Texas communities every day. Hearing directly from program staff and AmeriCorps Volunteers highlighted the vital role plays in expanding educational opportunities, supporting women veterans, and strengthening communities across Texas.

One especially memorable moment came during Breakthrough Houston's final day of summer programming. Throughout the summer, AmeriCorps members greeted students each morning with energy and encouragement. On the last day, students turned the tables and surprised the AmeriCorps members with a celebration of their own—a powerful reminder of the lasting relationships and impact created through service.

Thank you to Breakthrough Houston and Camp SHiEld for opening your doors and helping showcase the transformative power of AmeriCorps in action across Texas!

Volunteering is more than just an act of kindness or thoughtful gesture—it is part of the vital infrastructure that helps communities adapt, respond, and thrive.

We're honored to be awarded $300,000 in federal funding from AmeriCorps' Volunteer Generation Fund to strengthen volunteerism across Texas. This investment will develop a statewide youth volunteer engagement and recognition program that helps young Texans build lasting connections to service, while supporting the training and resources for nonprofits to engage these volunteers.

As Texas’ state service commission, we are honored to steward this funding and help turn the willingness to serve into lasting community capacity. Thank you to for investing in the people and systems that strengthen Texas communities!
