The Austin Police Department and City of Austin has been in contact with the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) regarding the construction near the Austin exit. We want to keep our residents informed so you can plan your travel accordingly.

Crews are currently installing new guardrails, and this work may require a single-lane closure on each side of the interstate at different points during the project.

Weekday Traffic Plan (as currently expected, could change):
โžก๏ธ Southbound traffic toward Cabot: Both southbound lanes will remain open during the morning weekday rush when folks are heading to work. One northbound lane will be closed.
โžก๏ธ Northbound traffic toward Ward: Both northbound lanes will remain open during the afternoon weekday rush when folks are heading home. One southbound lane will be closed.

๐Ÿ˜Ž Friendly heads-up:
Speed limits will be reduced for several weeks through the construction zone near Austin. Please use caution and watch for workers and lane shifts. Our friendly partners with the Arkansas Highway Patrol and Arkansas State Police will be very visible in the work zone. So slow down - a citation in a work zone isnโ€™t the best Christmas gift to recieve ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

This information is being shared only to help our residents stay informed and safe. For questions or additional details about the roadwork, please contact ARDOT.

Stay safe, Austin! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš“
