When a call came in for a bicyclist who couldn’t make it home, our crew responded quickly. The patient was worried about leaving the bicycle behind, and Battalion Chief Franco didn’t hesitate to help. He walked that bicycle more than a mile to the patient’s home—in triple-digit heat—to make sure both the patient and the bike made it home safely.
Did he have to? No.
Did he do it anyway? Absolutely.
That’s what going above and beyond looks like. Sometimes, making a difference doesn’t mean saving a life. Sometimes, it means simply taking the extra steps to make someone’s difficult day a little easier.
Congratulations, Chief Franco, and thank you for showing us what compassion and service truly mean. 🚑💓
