Another public service announcement 📣
Please STOP mowing/blowing grass into city streets. There is a lot of this going on and it contributes to clogging the drainage system, leading to more flooding when it rains. It also poses a risk to motorcycles as well as those legally riding bicycles on the right shoulder!

-with it being close to fall already 😨 this applies to leaves as well. Thank you for doing your part!
(Attorneys’ office will gladly uphold tickets issued for city ordinance violations)

Our turn! Hundreds of complaints on multiple different platforms of bikes and scooters. We will start here🫡
Teens/young adults. Laws are in place and will be enforced. Especially those who recklessly ride down the middle of the street as if you think you’re a vehicle. YOU ARE NOT! That has been the main complaint. We have also seen those who ride on sidewalks and ignore proper crosswalk signs and signals. You do not automatically have the right of way on any bike or scooter for that matter.

Lots of construction, traffic congestion and with school already in session, traffic gets worse in the morning and afternoon. Read up on local laws and ordinances. “I did not know” will not be an effective excuse. If you ride, you have…responsibilities🫢 👏🏻
-Thank you and have a great and safe rest of the warm weeks ahead!

Good afternoon Austin😃
(Except those who litter)
…Lots of trash left in parking lots and being thrown into city streets. Let’s work together on minimizing that! THANK YOU!

Oh how exciting! The first day for many students is here! We hope this is the best year yet for the students and staff! As the kids get ready, our School Resource Officers are out the door with their coffee ready to start the year right! Learn lots and stay safe!
*Officer Lunt and Blake love fist bumps 👊🏻

Don’t forget to stop for the buses with the red flashy lights and stop arms out! It’s a heightened criminal offense if you don’t. Kid safety is #1.

RETIREMENT: 2D 81 is 10-7 for the last time.

Today we honor and celebrate Captain Todd Clennon who spent 30 years in Law Enforcement, 27 with the Austin Police Department. He started back in 1999 on patrol. Todd gained his FTO (Field Training Officer) and use of force instructor. Todd then joined the SIRT team, dedicating 16 years, 8 of which he was commander. After 9 years as detective, Todd went on to serve his last 7 years as Captain.

Todd, it’s been an honor and pleasure having you on the force. You lead the way for those now taking over. You guided countless officers along the way. Thank you for your decades of service to the department and most importantly, the citizens of Austin. Your impact will be felt for many years to come. Your legacy of excellence will not be forgotten. Congratulations on your retirement! You’re always welcome!

(Announcement of the new captain will take place Monday after he is sworn in!)

We’ve made it to fair week! This marks the last week of freedom before local kids go back to school. Coincidentally it’s one of our busiest weeks of the year! Please help us keep call volume down by obeying traffic laws and being EXTRA cautious around the fairgrounds. Stop at all stop signs and take an extra look around before you proceed. Parents, talk to your children on crosswalk safety and not just running/biking right into traffic. Also, keep your bikes locked up. Bike thefts always rise this week.
ENJOY THE FAIR!
And have a mini donut for us. 🤓
