Congratulations Angelina!

Congratulations to Angelina Williams, our 2026 Mahoning Valley EMS Awards Paramedic of the Year!

For Angelina, EMS has never been just a job, it has been an opportunity to lead, teach, and make a difference in the moments that matter most.

Angelina began her EMS career in 2021 through the Lane EMT Program before continuing her education through the MCCTC Paramedic Program in 2023. In just a few short years, she has already built a reputation as a clinician, mentor, and leader throughout the Mahoning Valley EMS community.

Serving as a paramedic and Lieutenant at Lane LifeTrans, Angelina helped relaunch and rebuild the agency’s FTO Program and has become deeply involved in developing the next generation of providers. She shared that one of the most rewarding parts of her career has been serving as a preceptor to EMT and paramedic students and helping guide multiple classes of future clinicians.

Her nominations reflected that same commitment to excellence.

Coworkers described Angelina as someone who remains calm in high acuity situations and consistently delivers exceptional patient care, even in environments where she may be the only ALS provider on scene. They highlighted her ability to lead crews through difficult calls, make confident clinical decisions under pressure, and provide care at the highest level while keeping patients at the center of everything she does.

But what stood out most was her compassion.

Whether advocating for vulnerable patients, helping coworkers grow, or taking the time to support someone through a difficult moment, Angelina was repeatedly recognized for leading with empathy and professionalism. Her impact extends beyond individual calls, she creates stronger providers, stronger teams, and ultimately stronger patient care.

Congratulations, Angelina! Thank you for your dedication, your leadership, and for helping shape the future of EMS in the Mahoning Valley.

Congratulations Jack and Kailyn!

Congratulations Jack and Kailyn!

Congratulations to our 2026 Mahoning Valley EMS Awards Clinical Save Award recipients: Kailyn Assion, Jack Kadilak, and the Boardman Fire Department!

This award recognizes exceptional clinical judgment, teamwork, and the ability to continually reassess and adapt care during a rapidly evolving critical event.

During this call, crews responded to a patient experiencing severe respiratory distress and initiated treatment including CPAP in an effort to improve the patient’s condition. Despite early intervention, the patient’s status continued to decline. Rather than becoming fixed on the initial treatment plan, providers recognized the patient’s changes adjusted treatment accordingly.

As the patient became unresponsive and developed profound bradycardia, the team transitioned to assisted ventilations and initiated transcutaneous pacing with successful capture in an effort to maintain perfusion and stabilize the patient.

When the patient later lost pulses during transport, resuscitative efforts continued immediately through hospital arrival. Through constant reassessment, escalation of care, and coordinated teamwork, the patient achieved sustained ROSC and ultimately went on to make a full neurological recovery.

This save reflects something that cannot be taught by protocol alone. It shows the willingness to continuously evaluate a patient, recognize when current interventions are no longer enough, and confidently move to the next step.

Outside of this call, both recipients shared a passion for medicine and caring for others.

Kailyn, currently an EMT at Lane LifeTrans and in paramedic school, shared that she entered EMS while pursuing clinical experience and quickly developed a passion for emergency medicine. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Youngstown State University with a degree in Biological Sciences, she plans to continue into medical school and ultimately pursue Emergency Medicine and Cardiology.

Jack shared that he entered EMS to explore medicine and quickly discovered a passion for patient care and prehospital medicine. As a biology student at Youngstown State University with aspirations of attending NEOMED, he described becoming a paramedic as one of the best decisions he has made and values every opportunity to positively impact even one person.

Congratulations to Kailyn, Jack, and Boardman Fire Department on this extraordinary achievement and thank you for representing the very best of Mahoning Valley EMS.

National EMS Week 2026 has been a hot one… until today, but our people never stop showing up - and today Mission BBQ made sure they didn’t have to stand in the rain to feel appreciated.

Huge thank you to Mission BBQ for bringing the food to Lane LifeTRANS HQ and setting up inside so our crews could grab a delicious meal between calls. Your support means a lot to the medics, EMTs, dispatchers, and support staff who answer the phone and roll out, day and night.

Congratulations, Teresa!

Congratulations to Teresa Gillespie, affectionately known as “Momma T”, our 2026 Mahoning Valley EMS Awards Leadership Award Winner!

Teresa was nominated multiple times for this recognition, a true testament to the profound impact she has had on coworkers, students, and the EMS community throughout her remarkable career.

She began her EMS journey in 1998 as an EMT with Action Ambulance before advancing to paramedic in 2001. She completed her education through Howland Training Center and Trumbull Institute for Prehospital Care. Over the course of her 28 years in EMS, Teresa has become an exceptional leader and mentor. She now serves as Lieutenant and 3rd in command at Lane Life Trans.

Teresa has consistently demonstrated outstanding professionalism, integrity, and clinical excellence. Her nominations repeatedly highlighted her unique leadership style: one rooted in trust, mentorship, and collaboration. Rather than leading through authority alone, Teresa empowers crews by creating an environment where both seasoned professionals and newer clinicians can grow confidently.

Her influence as mentor has shaped future EMS providers by intentionally creating opportunities for learning, supporting students, and fostering confidence through hands on experience. Her calm presence, strong clinical judgment, and dedication to both patient care and provider development have left an enduring mark on the profession.

Teresa’s service extends beyond the Mahoning Valley as well, having served with DMAT-OH-6 and deployed to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina.

For nearly three decades, “Momma T” has embodied what true EMS leadership looks like: compassionate, dependable, empowering, and deeply committed to the success of others.

Thank you, Teresa, for your extraordinary service, mentorship, and leadership. Your impact on EMS is immeasurable, and this recognition is incredibly well deserved.

Grateful is an understatement. This National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, our dispatchers were treated to an incredible meat tray from Weathersfield Fire Department , generously provided by Badurik Butcher Block in Weathersfield.
In a room full of urgent calls, radio traffic, and maps on the screen, it means a lot to know that our fire partners and a hometown small business took the time to say “we see you” and “we’ve got your back.” The food is great-but the support, the partnership, and the local pride behind it are what truly fuel our team.
From all of us at Lane Lifetrans Paramedics : thank you for standing behind the unseen voices on the other end of the line. This is what community looks like in Weathersfield.

Lane Life Trans would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all dispatchers - not only during National Telecommunicators Week, April 12 - 18, but each and every day.

You are the steady, reassuring voice in moments of uncertainty and fear. In the midst of chaos, you bring clarity, guidance, and calm to patients, families, and first responders alike. Your ability to listen with compassion, think critically under pressure, and respond with professionalism is nothing short of extraordinary.

As the very first point of contact in the emergency response system, you set the tone for everything that follows. Your actions directly impact outcomes, providing critical information, coordinating resources, and ensuring that help arrives swiftly and safely.

Often working behind the scenes, your dedication and commitment do not go unnoticed - they are felt in every life touched and every call answered.

Your role requires resilience, patience, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. You carry the weight of countless emergencies, yet continue to show up with strength, empathy, and professionalism every single day.

From all of us at Lane LifeTrans, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your steadfast dedication to the communities you serve. Please know how truly valued and appreciated you are - not just this week, but always.

Over the Christmas holiday, while most of us were relaxing and celebrating together - one family in our community faced a medical emergency.

Our crew responded, delivered care, and transported the patient safely to the hospital.

Sweet flowers and handwritten cards arrived.

We don’t share moments like this often. But as we move through the year, it’s worth remembering what 24/7/365 readiness really means.

Emergencies don’t pause for holidays.
And neither do we.

To the patient and family - thank you sincerely for the kindness. It is our distinct honor to serve you.
To Jen Nugen, EMT-P and Abby Bartel, EMT - this is what professionalism and compassion look like. Outstanding work, ladies! You do us proud.
