⚠️ WEATHER ALERT FOR AUXIER & SURROUNDING AREAS ⚠️

The National Weather Service in Jackson, Ky is forecasting strong to severe thunderstorms moving through Eastern Kentucky tonight. Main threats include heavy rainfall, damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, and the possibility of localized flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Residents should stay weather aware throughout the evening and overnight hours.

With recent rainfall across the region, it will not take much additional rain to create hazardous conditions on roadways and small creeks. Never attempt to drive through water covering the roadway — “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

Auxier Fire Rescue asks everyone to:
• Secure outdoor items that could blow away in strong winds
• Keep phones charged in case of power outages
• Monitor local weather alerts and warnings
• Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy storms
• Report emergencies through 911 immediately

Please stay safe tonight and continue monitoring updates from our page.

⚠️ Community Reminder from Auxier Fire Rescue ⚠️

We have had several instances throughout our district where damaged power lines, trees, and other storm-related hazards during heavy rain, storms, and thunderstorms were not reported to our dispatch center.

When these incidents are not called in, it delays emergency response and prevents the fire department from gathering the appropriate resources needed to safely handle the situation.

‼️Please ‼️read the newsletter below for more info.

Last night, Auxier Volunteer Fire Department joined Prestonsburg Fire Department for a joint extrication training.

Crews worked on vehicle stabilization, tool operations, and patient removal techniques while strengthening coordination between departments. Trainings like this are key to staying sharp and prepared for real-world incidents.

We appreciate Prestonsburg Fire/EMS for hosting and allowing us to train alongside them. Strong partnerships and teamwork make a difference when it matters most.
