DCSO K9 Unit The Douglas County K-9 teams under the direction of Sheriff Chris Degase are: Corporal Taylor Wallace with Kain and Deputy Jonathan Harley with Yadi.

K9 Yadi was utilized, when Deputy Harley and Deputy Nelson responded to a call. It was later learned illegal narcotics maybe present in the vehicle. Consent to search was denied, so K9 Yadi was deployed with a positive alert, with methamphetamine located. Though to some it may not look like much maybe this can be a turning point in someone's life.

K9 Kain was utilized once again in the early morning hours of January 24th, when Corporal Wallace and Deputy Nelson responded to a call involving suspicious activity. At the completion of the call, approx. 2 ounces of methamphetamine were seized, along with over 50 Controlled Substance pills and a firearm. This seizure would not have been possible without our hard working K9s!

Last night, K9 Kain was utilized on yet another traffic stop inside city limits. K9 Kain located approx. 6.5 grams of methamphetamine and/or methamphetamine/paraphernalia. This stop led to 3 individuals being arrested, with Felony charges pending. This seizure would not have been possible without our hard working K9s. Great job K9 Kain!!

K9 Kain has been very busy the last two weeks at work, and is earning some extra belly scratches at home! In the last two weeks, K9 Kain has been utilized on 3 different traffic stops where methamphetamine and/or methamphetamine paraphernalia has been located. These 3 traffic stops have yielded a total of 5 Felony Drug Arrests for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, all of which would not have been possible without our hard working K9s.

Some look at this picture and think, "Wow big deal they found a gram of dope." We look at this picture and think, "Thank goodness this evil is off the streets! Thank goodness this little bit of "dope" won't end up in the hands of a young teen who is about to use for the first time."
