On June 3, 2026, Jennie Gardner, age 46, was arrested on a Douglas County Warrant for Failure to appear on a case for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Gardner failed to appear on April 1, 2026, for court on this case. The original case was investigated by Sgt Box on May 9, 2023, where methamphetamine was seized at a search warrant on the residence where Gardener resided.
Bond was set at $400 in this case.

On June 10, 2026, at approximately 1400 hours, Sheriff Degase, Lt Nelson and Detective Long were dispatched to a residence on K Highway for a report of a male subject with a knife who had slashed several tires on farm machinery. Upon arrival, the male suspect was located in a camper trailer, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Mitchell Scott Ullrich, age 41 of Oklahoma, was charged with Property Damage 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Due to Ullrich’s extensive violent criminal history, bond was set at $250,000 cash only.

On June 5, 2026, Nancy Harper’s ticket was drawn as the winner of the truck raffle. We would like to thank Bo and Nancy Harper for supporting the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and all of those who purchased tickets in our fundraising efforts to purchase crucial equipment for the Deputies at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

On June 12, 2026, at approximately 2052 hours, Sgt. A. Box, Deputy Evans, and Deputy Wilson attempted a warrant service on N Highway. Upon arrival, two subjects with active warrants fled into the woods. Sgt. Box deployed into the woods with K-9 York, who began an immediate track. Deputy Evans deployed the drone, and the suspects were located a short time later. Both suspects finally made a smart decision and surrendered before York was released for apprehension.
Taken into custody was Troy Santacroce, age 39, of Wasola, on an active Ozark County Warrant for Failure to appear on charges of possession of a controlled substance, Unlawful use of a weapon X3. Santacroce is ordered to serve 7 days in jail for failure to abide by bond conditions.
Bethany Schaefer, age 31, of Wasola, was also taken into custody on an Ozark County capias, no-bond warrant for failure to abide by the judge's order. The original charge was for possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon X3.
Sheriff Degase would like to recognize the proactive approach of Sgt. Box and Deputies. “Situations like this make me appreciate the resources that are available to the Deputies in Douglas County to ensure they can serve the Citizens of Douglas County as safely as possible. You can run, but you will only go to jail tired.” Sheriff Chris Degase

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 1956 hours, Sgt. Aaron Box and Deputy Sam Evans were dispatched to A Highway for a physical altercation between two male subjects. While responding, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a second call that the homeowner was possibly having a heart attack due to the altercation.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Box and Deputy Evans located the suspect, identified as Tremane Courtney, age 19, of Ava. Courtney dates the victim's granddaughter, and when Courtney became abusive, the grandfather intervened.
As a result of the investigation, Courtney was placed on a 24-hour hold, and a warrant was later issued for Courtney for Assault second degree, special victim, Robbery second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, creating substantial risk, and tampering with a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $25,000 cash only.

On June 4, 2026, Yellonda Adams, age 49 of Dora, was arrested on a Douglas County Grand Jury Indictment for possession of a controlled substance and stealing. The bond was set at $1500 cash only. Adams has since posted bond.
Douglas County Deputy Shane Harden investigated the original case. Adams was found in possession of a stolen vehicle and psilocybin mushrooms.

On May 20, 2026, Adam Besson, age 41 of Republic, was remanded to custody when he attended court in Douglas County.
Besson was indicted by a Douglas County Grand Jury on January 9, 2026, for Domestic Assault 3rd degree. The original offense occurred in the Vanzant area of Douglas County. Besson was gone upon the arrival of Deputies Wilson and Pueppke. Besson was located and arrested on the indictment on February 19, 2026.
On March 3, 2026, Besson was released to a sober living facility, which he left and did not comply with court orders, resulting in Besson’s May 20, 2026, arrest. Besson remains incarcerated in the Douglas County Jail.

On May 26, 2026, Janice L Blackledge, age 65 of Seymour, was remanded to custody when she appeared for court in Douglas County, for testing positive for methamphetamine and ecstasy when she arrived at court.
Blackledge, who was originally arrested on a Douglas County Grand Jury Indictment on January 14, 2026, for possession of methamphetamine, was released on her own recognizance on January 23, 2026, from the Douglas County Jail and ordered to report to CPS with weekly drug testing, which she never complied with.

On May 27, 2026, Jared Allen Young, age 34 of Springfield, was arrested on a Douglas County Grand Jury Indictment for Child Molestation 1st Degree. Bond was set at $150,000 cash only.
The case was investigated by Detective Nathan Long and assisted by the Child Advocacy Center of West Plains.

Young remains incarcerated in the Douglas County Jail.

On May 28, 2026, Patricia Hurt, age 28 of Ava, was arrested by Douglas County Deputy Shane Hardin on a Douglas County Grand Jury Indictment for failure to register as a s*x offender, with bond set at $1500. A joint investigation between the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Probation and Parole resulted in the subject being indicted after it was found that Hurt moved into Douglas County and failed to register as a s*x offender.

“There are several requirements that must be followed by those who are required to register as s*x offenders, and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office will relentlessly pursue those who are not in compliance.” Sheriff Degase
