Since 1974, the Douglas County Health Department
(DCHD) has been providing public health to the
residents of our county. Depending on funding and
assessed needs, the public health services we provide
are constantly changing. As an agency, we strive to
develop a variety of funding sources to strengthen our
community. Our health department has been
progressive in obtaining grant funding through whic

we are able to educate the public, work with our school
systems and plan interventions. The Douglas County
Health Department works with the Missouri
Department of Health and Senior Services through
contracts which provide needed services to our county. Our Vision:
To nurture a supportive, safe and inclusive environment that encourages all individuals to achieve their optimal physical and mental well-being.

We are a drop off site for Sleepers in September for Newborns in Need - Southwest Missouri Chapter!

❤️ Sleepers in September is BACK!❤
We’ve been busy behind the scenes getting everything ready, and we’re excited to officially kick off our 2026 drive!

Throughout September & October, we’ll be collecting new, gently-used & handmade sleepers to help babies right here in our Southwest Missouri communities.

There are LOTS of ways to get involved — donate, give, host a drive, or simply help us spread the word.
