On Saturday, August 29th, the Avalon public safety volunteers and employees were treated to a generous gathering offered by the Robert Irvine Foundation and the Schanz Family. The family wanted to express its appreciation to Avalon Volunteer Fire Department, Avalon NJ Police Department, and Avalon Rescue Squad for their public service and commitment to safety. The safety team was treated to a generous lunch with fellowship.

Chef Robert Irvine, known by many as a celebrity chef, attended the event which was catered by Polpo Restaurant. Collectively, the Avalon Public Safety team wants to thank the Robert Irvine Foundation, the Schanz family, and Polpo for the generous luncheon and the expression of gratitude. We remain proud to serve the citizens and visitors in Avalon.

AVALON, NJ: On July21, 2026 at 6pm, Avalon Fire Department was dispatched to a Carbon Monoxide Alarm on 61st Street. Upon arrival, it was upgraded to a residential structure fire, bringing in additional units from Stone Harbor, Ocean View, Sea Isle City, Cape May Court House, and MTAC-EMS . Lightning is suspected.

Avalon Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter Trevor Breckley completed the Tim Kerr Charities 1.2 MILE BAY SWIM, on Saturday, July 11, 2026 @ 7:30 AM.

After the swim, Trevor showed his Firefighter stamina by celebrating his finish by crossing the finish line in a hand stand on the dock.

The Avalon Volunteer Fire Department lost a piece of equipment on Saturday night during about two-dozen emergencies. If you saw this on the side of the road, please drop it off to us.
