Avalon Police Department participated in the ‘Bring your Kid to Work’ day. If you were out and about you may have seen some new faces. They started their day with PT, then a daily squad meeting, and Oath of office. They continued on with patrolling the streets and even working on a few investigations. Somehow, with this busy day, we found some time to have a lunch break. Thank you to Circle Pizza for helping us take care of the new officers. It was very much appreciated! The day continued with some training at the Avalon Fire Department with help from Rescue and Firefighter Members! Nearing the end of the day called for a little action at the playground. It looks like a few new officers are going to have a great sleep tonight. Again thank you to everyone that participated, making this a great day for all!
Welcome Officers!!

Chief Jeff Christopher attended the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police monthly meeting on April 2, 2026 to proudly display the Avalon Police Department’s HERO campaign police vehicle in honor of Ensign John R. Elliot. The HERO campaign now has 47 police department HERO vehicles in the south jersey area with 7 more to be unveiled soon, some in the north jersey area.
Bill Elliot, founder of the HERO campaign and father of Ensign John R. Elliot was in attendance and received the Trooper Scales award for the incredible work he has done with the HERO campaign over the past two decades.
It is the 25th anniversary of John’s law, which requires the impounding of vehicles for a minimum of 12 hours, following a driving while intoxicated arrest, to ensure the driver does not immediately get back behind the wheel while intoxicated.
The Avalon Police Department congratulates Mr. Bill Elliot on the well-deserved award. The HERO campaign is responsible for saving countless lives by encouraging people to be the life of the party, and to take the pledge to be a designated driver.

The Avalon Police Department presented a check for $5,000 to the No Limits Academy.

Chief Christopher, Sgt. Will Robinson, Sgt. Pete Savini, Acting Sgt. Nick Brady, Pltm. Joe Stoltenberg, Ptlm. Kyle Roscoe, Pltm. Brandon Cirillo, Ptlm. Evan Hallowell, all attended the No Limits academy Tuesday night, to participate in a workout with the members, and presented a check for $5,000 from William and Deborah Davis Family Foundation.

The No Limits Academy is a youth developmental facility that is FREE for everyone. NLA provides free meals, a safe place to do schoolwork, and recreational activities. An intensive workout and boxing program helps develop disciplined, confident, and accountable young people. Through boxing, at-risk youth are developed personally, professionally, and spiritually. Over 500 youth are served annually and 95% participate in non-contact boxing.

"The No limits Academy is an amazing place. Founder Josh Mercado and the amazing staff of volunteer coaches and mentors, including local law enforcement officers from Cape May County are making difference in the lives of our youth. I am thankful for the generosity of the William and Deborah Davis Family Foundation for their incredible donation. The funds will help support the mission of the NLA and make a difference in the community".
