🔥🚒 In Our Community This Week: Fire Prevention Week

This week, the Avella Volunteer Fire Department visited Avella Elementary School to help students learn important fire safety skills! The visit included a fire safety assembly, a look at the firetruck and its equipment, and lessons on escaping a house fire and creating a family escape plan, safe charging, and much more. It's wonderful to see children learning these potentially life-saving skills and bringing that knowledge home.

We'd like all of our residents to take a few minutes this week to talk about fire safety - AND CHARGING HABITS - with your family or household. A little preparation can make a big difference in an emergency! 🏠

Here's where you can start:

✅ Make an escape plan. Identify two ways out of every room when possible, and practice your plan with everyone in your household.

✅ Choose a meeting place. Pick a safe spot outside, a safe distance from your home, where everyone knows to meet.

✅ Practice getting out safely. Make sure everyone knows how to get outside, including what to do if a door or exit is blocked. Once outside, stay outside.

🔋 Charge safely. Charge phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, and other rechargeable devices on a hard, flat surface away from beds, couches, and other flammable materials. Use the appropriate charger and never charge damaged batteries.

⚠️ Know the warning signs. Stop using a battery or device if it becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks, or gives off an unusual odor.

🚨 Remember: Get out, stay out, and call 911 if there's a fire. Never go back inside for belongings or pets.

Thank you to everyone helping our community stay safe! ❤️

🏈🔥 Avella Community Shows Its Pride! 🔥🏈
The Avella community came together in a big way for our Homecoming Parade, showing incredible support for our Avella High School Football Team! The celebration continued with a bonfire hosted by the fire department and an energetic pep rally that brought together students, families, and community members.
A special thank you to our local fire departments, community organizations, volunteers, and everyone who participated in making this event such a tremendous success. Your hard work and dedication helped create a memorable evening that truly showcased the pride and spirit of Avella.
It was great to see our community come together to support our student-athletes and celebrate our school. Events like these remind us of the strength and unity that make Avella such a special place to call home.
Now let's keep that spirit rolling as the Avella Varsity Football Team takes on West Greene this Friday night!
💙💛 Good luck, Eagles! We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way! 🏈
