A beautiful rural place to live, work and play, we have beautiful scenery, farmland, forests, friendly residents and close-knit communities. There is a lot to do here, such as hiking, relaxing or playing at the park, golfing, dining and much more. Cross Creek Lake and Meadowcroft Rockshelter & Historic Village are popular tourist destinations in neighboring townships.

โ™ป๏ธ Household Hazardous Waste & Tire Collection Event โ™ป๏ธ

PRC is hosting a community collection event to help safely dispose of household chemicals, paint products, automotive fluids, batteries, tires, and more.

๐Ÿ“ Registration is required โ€” one registration per vehicle
๐Ÿ’ฒ Fees apply:
โ€ข Chemicals: $20 per 10 gallons / 50 lbs
โ€ข Tires: $6 without rim | $14 with rim

Accepted items include paint, cleaners, batteries, gasoline, pesticides, smoke detectors, e-cigarettes, fluorescent bulbs, and tires.

๐Ÿšซ Not accepted: appliances, medical waste, explosives, large gas cylinders, fluorescent tubes, leaking containers, and medications.

Please place items in your trunk or truck bed and remain in your vehicle during drop-off.

Yesterday, our community came together in the spirit of remembrance and hometown gratitude for our Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

As we reflect on Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. We are especially grateful to all Veterans in our community and beyond for their service and sacrifice.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to everyone who helped make yesterday such a meaningful and memorable day for the Avella community. In a small rural community like ours, events like this happen because neighbors come together, volunteer their time, and support one another - and yesterday was a beautiful example of that.

Open House. Be sure to stop by the train station following the ceremony! Take some time to explore the incredible work they do preserving the history of our town, our people, and the surrounding area. Their collection of historic records, photographs, and local knowledge is truly fascinating and well worth checking out.(10am-2pm).

For those participating in the parade, line-up will begin at 9:00 AM near Avella Motor & Body.

The first Fish-for-Free Day in Pennsylvania for 2026 will be tomorrow, Sunday, May 24. ๐ŸŽฃ

Fish-for-Free Days allow anyone to legally fish on Pennsylvania waterways with no fishing license required. All other fishing regulations still apply.
