🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET | SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸
Today, 25 years later, we pause to remember and honor the thousands of innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless first responders who answered the call when our nation needed them most.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and all those who ran toward danger while others were running away. Some never came home. Some returned home carrying wounds that could not be seen. And many are still battling the physical and emotional effects of that day 25 years later.
Their courage, sacrifice, and selflessness will never be forgotten.
Tonight, Averill Park High School will host its first home game of the season. Before the game begins, members of our department, along with members of other area fire departments, will gather for an opening ceremony honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11th. We invite our community to join us as we remember, reflect, and pay tribute to the heroes and lives forever changed that day.
We also want to take a moment to recognize the volunteer firefighters who continue to answer the call every day. They give their time, leave their families, respond in the middle of the night, and put themselves in harm’s way to protect the communities they call home.
The need for volunteers has never gone away. If you’ve ever thought about becoming a firefighter, EMT, or helping your local fire department, now is the time to consider joining. You don’t have to be a hero to start. You simply have to be willing to serve.
25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🚒
