Avoca Volunteer Fire Department

Avoca Volunteer Fire Department Avoca VFD is an all volunteer Fire Department that serves 57.5 Square miles of Cass County and Otoe counties in Nebraska

The Avoca Fire Department was first established in March of 1914 and consisted soley of a double action cylinder pump and hose. This was the mainstay of fire protection until 1947 when the district was able to afford a modern day pump apparatus. Ever since, the department has continued grow and update its capabilities as our districts needs. The Avoca Fire Department continues to be a staple of Pr

ide and Honor not only in our district but within the county as well. We look forward with anticipation to each new year and the challenges that it may bring.

A message from the State Fire Marshal's Office:

Effective immediately the Governor has issued an Executive Order that bans the issuance of Open Burn Permits for 14 days. The Executive Order prohibits any fire chief or person designated by the fire chief from granting an open burn permit for any purpose. Any existing burn permit that has not been completed is null and void and open burning is not permitted for 14 consecutive days beginning now.

This order will be reviewed prior to its termination to determine the need to extend the ban. Further information will be provided prior to that date.

The Executive Order document will be issued later today when all required parties have signed it.

Please feel free to share this message as needed and contact me with any questions.

Thanks
Doug Hohbein

Even with the small amount of moisture we received today, our area will still be under a Red Flag Warning tomorrow due to high temperatures, strong winds, and low relative humidity.

If you have burned recently, please check the area and make sure it is 100% out. Hot spots can easily reignite in these conditions.
