There is now an ENHANCED RISK (level 3 of 5) for severe weather across parts of Northeast OH and Northwest PA for later today. Confidence is increasing in a cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms moving southeast across the area this evening. Damaging winds are expected to be the primary severe weather threat with these storms. Flash flooding, isolated hail, and perhaps a brief tornado are also possible.

A Special Meeting of Avon Lake City Council will be held tomorrow - Thursday, September 3, 2026 - at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall Council Chamber (150 Avon Belden Road) for the purpose of considering an ordinance submitting to the electorate the question of whether the proposed amendment to Chapter XIII of the City Charter to add Section 69(C) shall be adopted, and declaring an emergency.

The meeting will be streamed live on the city website, Youtube, the free ALC-TV app, Spectrum Channel 1025, Breezeline Channel 21, Breezeline Stream Channel 2001, and right here on the city's page.

Passing an ordinance on emergency means the ordinance goes into effect immediately once it has been signed instead of the typical 30-day waiting period.
