As April represents Autism Awareness Month, Avon Park Firefighters will be wearing these tees on duty for support of the cause.

Due to the nature of the job, the National Institutes of Health says firefighters have a higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer. The National Firefighter Registry for Cancer is working to better understand the link between firefighting and cancer and is asking firefighters past and present to join the registry. More Below 🔗⬇️

Heartbroken and in disbelief — sending prayers and strength.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our brother, Local 1826 District 23 (Hendry County EMS) DVP Ellery Uribe.

Ellery dedicated his life to serving others, answering the call day and night, standing on the front lines of patient care, and representing our members with strength, professionalism, and compassion. His commitment to EMS, his leadership as DVP, and his steady presence within our union family will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ellery’s family, friends, and all the Brothers & Sisters of Hendry County EMS during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that Local 1826 stands ready to support you in any way needed.

In moments like this, we’re reminded how close our Fire/EMS family truly is. Let’s continue to lift one another up, check on each other, and honor Ellery’s legacy by serving with the same heart and dedication he showed every day.

We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Chief Jeff Goodwin. A dedicated fire chief whose service and commitment to APF&ES will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this incredibly difficult time.

When the City Clerk, in conjunction with the Florida Associations of City Clerks, requested donations for new mothers in need the Avon Park Professional Firefighters did not hesitate. Our Local 3132 guys got together and surprised the Interim City Manager today with quite a few diapers, wipes and baby toys.
