Congratulations to Officer Whitfield and Officer Butler on their graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Great job completing 16 tough weeks away from family and friends. We are so pleased to have them back on campus. Both Officers will start their field training next week.

Tomorrow is the first student day of the 2026-2027 school year. With that comes lots of school buses all over Washington Township and Hendricks County. Please be aware of bus stops and obey the red flashing lights and stop arms. Don’t take a chance. Protect our children.

This week Officers are attending the Indiana School Resource Officer Association (INSROA) School Safety Conference. This annual conference offers training and networking opportunities for our officers as well as for officers from all over Indiana.

Earlier this week Chief Leahy and Sgt. Logan were able to attend training to help our department be better aware of physical safety issues on school campus. We appreciate National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) for putting on the class, Danville Community School Corporation for hosting along with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department. This training was funded by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security through the Office of School Safety.

Yesterday afternoon our department grew by two. We welcome Officers Whitfield and Butler. Both will be attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in May.
