Have you checked out our yarn and fiber arts installation along Main Street Mall yet? ✨
This week, we're highlighting the incredible work of Tierra Stansbury at the On the Edge Skier statue.
"From the time my grandmother first taught me to do a crochet chain stitch 17 years ago to now running a business based on a love for crochet and my desire to share it with the world (called Tea's Crafting Cove), fiber arts have played an important role in my life. Crochet has brought me community and joy and I wanted to reflect that in my art pieces.
I'm Colorado born and raised, and The On the Edge statue felt like the perfect way to bring in a lot of Colorado symbolism. Skiing is such a huge part of both our community here in Avon as well as in Colorado as a whole so it felt natural to tie in the Colorado flag in the headband and the cape (especially since the statue already has a headband and I could play into both the original art and my own additions). I also decided to tie in our state flower with columbines on the bottom of the ski poles." - Tierra
