NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Incident: I26-240
Date: January 7, 2026
Time: 3:45 PM
Travis Ross, 31, of Avon, was arrested Thursday morning following an investigation into an armed road rage incident involving an adult bicyclist in Medway earlier this month.
On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the Medway Police Department received a report from an adult bicyclist who stated he was involved in a road rage incident near the Medway Commons entrance on Holliston Street.
The victim reported that he was nearly struck by a gray sedan. The operator of the vehicle then stopped, pointed a handgun at the victim, and fled the area. This account was corroborated through town surveillance video, license plate reader technology, and an independent witness who observed the interaction and photographed the suspect vehicle.
The suspect vehicle was identified as a gray 2014 Cadillac ATS registered to Mr. Ross. Investigators reviewed surveillance video, license plate reader data, and witness information, all of which were consistent with the vehicle and operator involved. Based on this information, investigators identified Mr. Ross as the suspect.
On the morning of Friday, January 16, 2026, Medway Police Detectives, including Detective Sergeant Lauren Swarthout, Detective Tom Godino, Detective Chris Bullen, and Officer Tom Sicchio, with assistance from the Avon Police Department and the Metro LEC SWAT Team, executed an arrest warrant for Mr. Ross and a search warrant for his vehicle, residence, and business. Mr. Ross was taken into custody without incident as he pulled into a parking space.
During the arrest, a loaded 9mm handgun was located on the driverโs seat of the vehicle. As a result of the search warrant, additional ammunition and a second magazine for the firearm were also recovered.
Mr. Ross was charged with two counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon in violation of MGL Chapter 265, Section 15B. He was arraigned in Wrentham District Court, where bail was set at $500. As conditions of release, Mr. Ross was ordered to have no contact with the victim, to stay away from the victim, and is prohibited from possessing fi****ms or ammunition. His next court date is scheduled for early March.
The Medway Police Department would like to thank the Avon MA Police Department and the Metro-LEC Regional SWAT Team for their assistance with this investigation and arrest. Their coordination and support were instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient ex*****on of the arrest and search warrants.
This case highlights how quickly road rage incidents can escalate and underscores the importance of disengaging from confrontations whenever possible. It also demonstrates the investigative value of surveillance video and license plate reader technology in corroborating witness accounts and identifying suspect vehicles.
