Visit the Avon-Washington Township Public Library today and sign up for a library card! Children must be 5 years old to get their first card. In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives right here in Hendricks County too. Every month, 3,724 children in our community find a new book in their mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, Tennessee who started it all.

In memory of a remarkable woman whose generosity touched countless lives, please donate today (link below) to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Hendricks County and keep the gift of reading alive for our children.
