Throwback Thursday!!

Remodel of Avon High School. A 1982 feasibility study identified several major building code and educational deficiencies that required $10.6 million of renovations and additions to the high school (Avon Middle School South). The School Board directed the needs be met with a cost of no more than $1.25 of added property tax rate in the first year of debt retirement. The renovations and new construction were done in two phases. The first phase cost $3.8 million and was begun in 1984.The second phase was budgeted at $3,990,000 and began in 1986. This is a photo of the work done in 1984.

Your adventure awaits thanks for the Adventure Backpack Program from the Avon-Washington Township Public Library and Indiana State Parks! Check out the Adventure Backpack with your library card at the Circulation Desk of AWTPL. Backpack includes an Indiana State Park Pass, first aid kit, binoculars, flashlight, compass, and various field guides. The Backpack can be checked out for one week at a time and gives you access to all of Indiana's beautiful state parks! Pass does not cover additional fees such as camping, use of swimming pools, or fishing licences. Some restrictions apply. Please call or visit the library with any questions. (317) 272-4818.
