Town of Avon Announces Availability of Another Walking Trail
AVON, MA — The Town of Avon announces the availability of a walking trail at the Robbins Street Conservation Area. The trail is a circular loop that is about 0.6 miles long. The trail includes benches and some “bog bridges” or plank boards for traversing wet areas. A kiosk near the trail opening provides a trail map and related information. The trail entrance is off Fagan Drive and is about halfway between the police station and Route 28. Walkers can park across the street from the police station.
The kiosk has a QR code provides a link to more in-depth information - point your smart phone camera at the QR code and it should present the web site to select; then the information should be visible. It includes the types of trees and plant life in Avon, breeding birds in our area, and a piece on Native American presence in the greater Avon area.

You can also view this information from the Town web site by selecting “Community” and then “Recreation Facilities”.
The trail was developed by the Town with assistance from the Wildlands Trust, an organization based in Plymouth MA. This land became town property in 1977 and consists of 16.7 acres between the police station and Robbins Street.
See a map and photo below.
The Town also has walking trails at the Avon Fieldstone Preserve (off D.W. Field Parkway West, south of South St) and at DeMarco Park.
It’s a great place for a lunch-time walk!

Conservation Districts are local units of government that receive grant funding to support agriculture and natural resource conservation. They work with farmers, landowners, municipalities, and community organizations to improve soil health, water quality, wildlife habitat, and climate resilience—while also helping communities access funding and technical assistance.
At this time, the Norfolk County Conservation District is inactive, and available funding for local conservation and urban agriculture initiatives is going unused. MACD is seeking community members interested in helping reactivate the District, either by serving on a reactivation team or by participating in future leadership and projects.
To support this effort, we are hosting a public meeting:
