With July 4th festivities coming up this weekend, families across Jefferson Parish will gather to celebrate.

Unfortunately, our firefighters will also respond to preventable fires caused by fireworks.

Fire Services Director Stephen Guidroz explains how easy it is for spent fireworks to ignite after the celebrations have ended and offers safety tips to prevent accidents from occurring around your home.

🚒 Atmos Facility Walk-Through 🚒

Today, personnel from the Avondale Fire Department, Bridge City Fire Department, and Nine Mile Point Fire Department participated in a walk-through of the new Atmos Energy facility.

Atmos representatives provided an overview of the facility's operations, natural gas systems, safety features, and emergency shutdown procedures. Firefighters toured the site, identified key access points, discussed potential hazards, and reviewed emergency response considerations.

Pre-incident planning events like these are critical to ensuring our firefighters are familiar with the facilities in our response area and are prepared to respond safely and effectively during an emergency.

We would like to thank Atmos Energy for hosting this informative tour and for their commitment to working with local first responders to enhance community safety.
