Today is National Su***de Prevention Day 💛
The man in this picture had the courage to stand up and share his story—a story about the day he attempted the unthinkable but God. Avondale Police and Fire stepped in and saved his life. That kind of bravery, to talk openly about something so personal, is what gives others hope. It reminds us that even in our darkest moments, there are people ready to fight for us.
As a Councilwoman here in Avondale, I am proud of the heroic actions of our first responders. They don’t just answer calls—they change lives, and in moments like this, they save them.
Hearing his testimony is a powerful reminder that God is good. Even when the weight feels unbearable, God places people in our path to step in, lift us up, and remind us our story isn’t over.
If you are struggling, please know you are not alone. There is help, and there is hope:

To those who are still fighting—your life matters. To our first responders—thank you for being God’s hands and feet in action. And to this man—thank you for having the courage to share your story so that others may find the strength to keep going.
