A severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued and is valid until 10 PM. Included is the potential for a couple tornadoes.

The Avondale Fire Company was alerted to the 1000 block of W. Baltimore Pike for a vehicle fire. Engine, Ambulance, and Deputy 23 responded within a minute of dispatch.

Additional reports stated the engine of a pickup truck exploded and caused a fire. Deputy 23 arrived first finding a pickup truck fully involved with multiple exposures to woods and a building. Engine 23 arrived and stretched the 100’ bumper line and began extinguishing the fire. Engine 23 knocked the fire from the vehicle and wood line. Tanker and Squad 23 arrived assisting with manpower and water. The exposed building was soaked down and limited damage was reported. The incident was placed under control and crews began cleanup.

The Avondale Fire Company, along with Longwood Fire Company MICU 25, was alerted to the 100 block of Bancroft Road for a motor vehicle accident. Squad, Deputy, and Fire Police responded immediately to the scene. Deputy 23 arrived first to find a vehicle in a ditch. The patient had self extricated before the fire department’s arrival. Squad 23 arrived and used a 14 foot roof ladder to make access to the vehicle to ensure no additional patients were involved. Crews confirmed the vehicle was vacant.

Avondale Fire Police closed both sides of Bancroft Road for an extended period of time.

No subjects were injured in this vehicle accident.

Yesterday, July 29, 2026, Avondale Fire Company, soon to become Southern Chester County Fire Rescue alongside West Grove Fire Company, was proud to participate in the Penn Township, Chester County, PA Fitness Park Ribbon Cutting and take on JB FIT in a fun, friendly fitness challenge. It was a great morning celebrating the opening of this outstanding community resource while promoting health, wellness, and teamwork.

A huge thank you to JB FIT for being great competitors and helping make the event such a success. We also want to thank Penn Township for hosting an incredible ribbon-cutting ceremony and everyone who came out to support us.

To make the day even more memorable, the event was featured on NBC10 Philadelphia, helping showcase this exciting addition to the community and the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles.

Congratulations to Penn Township on the new Fitness Court! We’re looking forward to seeing it enjoyed by residents for years to come!
