🎃👻 A Great Day at Bancroft Elementary School! 🚒

Our members had a great time joining Bancroft Elementary School for their annual Trunk-or-Treat! We enjoyed handing out treats and sharing some Halloween fun with our community. 🍬🎃

A big thank-you to the Bancroft Elementary PTO for inviting us and organizing such a wonderful event!

With Halloween coming up next weekend, we encourage everyone to stay safe while having fun! 🎃 Remember to use crosswalks, carry flashlights or wear reflective gear, stay alert around roadways, and keep an eye on little ones while trick-or-treating.

The Avondale Fire Company was honored to host a special fire prevention and public safety event this past week for the Life Skills and Special Needs Program of the Avon Grove School District.

This event was about much more than fire safety. It was an opportunity to connect with students, build relationships, and introduce them to the people, equipment, and resources available to them during an emergency.

Our mission in public safety goes beyond responding to calls. It’s about educating our community, building trust, being prepared, and making sure every person knows there are people who are here to help when they need us.

We were proud to have this event featured by 6ABC News and Daily Local News, helping showcase the importance of fire prevention, community education, and the partnerships that make our communities safer.

A special thank you to all of our public safety partners who came together to make this event possible. We are incredibly grateful for our team here at Southern Chester County Fire Rescue, as well as the mutual-aid partners we have the privilege of working alongside. This includes Southern Chester County EMS (Medic 94), Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, Chester County Department of Emergency Services Communications Division and Hazmat Team, and Pennsylvania State Police.

Most importantly, a special thank you to the students, staff, and the Avon Grove School District for welcoming us and allowing us the opportunity to be part of this special event!

This past Sunday, members of the Avondale Fire Company (Southern Chester County Fire Rescue), Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, Kennett Square Borough Police Department, and Kennett Township Police Department attended Saint Rocco’s Blue Mass, dedicated to honoring first responders.

This year marked the 5th annual Blue Mass since Saint Rocco’s began this wonderful tradition.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible and those who took the time to attend and support our first responders. It is a truly unique event that allows us to build meaningful relationships with our community while showcasing our equipment, personnel, and the services we provide.

Thank you to Saint Rocco’s for continuing this special tradition!

El pasado domingo, miembros de Avondale Fire Company (Southern Chester County Fire Rescue), Southern Chester County Regional Police Department, Kennett Square Borough Police Department y Kennett Township Police Department asistieron a la Misa Azul de Saint Rocco’s, dedicada a honrar a los primeros respondedores.

Este año se celebró la quinta Misa Azul anual desde que Saint Rocco’s comenzó esta hermosa tradición.

Queremos agradecer a todos los que ayudaron a hacer posible este evento y a todos los que se tomaron el tiempo para asistir y apoyar a nuestros primeros respondedores. It’s been a crazy month for the Avondale Fire Company!

Firefighter J. Decker was sworn in as a police officer with the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department. Congratulations, J. Decker!

This month, we also hosted a ceremony at our 9/11 Memorial to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

We were also proud to join Brayden and Brielle Taylor, who volunteered in the Run for 4 Heroes event in honor of 9/11.

And, of course, we hosted our annual Chicken BBQ! The community purchased more than 600 tickets for a delicious chicken barbecue meal held Saturday to benefit the fire company.

A crew of approximately 30 first responders began cooking at 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning. More than 700 chicken quarters were slow-cooked on massive cookers, seasoned, and turned throughout the morning by our cooking crew. Each $10 meal included chicken, four-bean salad, mushroom salad, a cookie, and a drink.

Crews cooked, bagged, and assembled the meals, which were then packaged and delivered through a drive-through line that ran through the firehouse until mid-afternoon.

Proceeds from the event were enhanced by generous donations from Giorgio Foods (mushrooms) and Dale Yates (vegetables), along with additional donations from Engine Bay Floors, Clayton Woods/State Farm Avondale, and VFIS. These donations helped offset $1,750 in event costs.

Proceeds from the Chicken BBQ will support the newly formed Southern Chester County Fire Rescue (SCCFR), which is being created through the merger of the Avondale Fire Company and West Grove Fire Company. Operations are expected to begin January 1, 2027.

A huge thank you goes out to all of the organizations, businesses, community members, volunteers, and career staff who continue to support the Avondale Fire Company throughout the year. Your generosity, time, dedication, and continued support allow us to serve our community and help build the future of Southern Chester County Fire Rescue.
